TDVP MATHEMATICS AND THE STRUCTURE OF REALITY

THE ROLE OF MATHEMATICS IN INVESTIGATING THE NATURE OF REALITY

Mathematical Platonism:

Some scientists, when thinking about the nature of reality, make a distinction between the Platonic 40 and Aristotelian worldviews 41 : The Platonic view, a revision of which we ascribe to, is that the universe is the physical manifestation of a partly hidden, deeply mathematical reality; while the Aristotelian view is that mathematics is simply an invention of the human mind, developed as a tool used to process direct observations and measurements of the material universe. Michael Rowan-Robinson, Professor of Astrophysics at Imperial College, London, has articulately expressed his belief in the Aristotelian view in his well-written presentation of current observational cosmology, “The Nine Numbers of the Cosmos42. :

[The] “Platonic view, that the universe is a manifestation of some kind of ideal, mathematical form, is very fashionable today. Some of its proponents are so astounded by this insight that they are driven to a mystical interpretation. This deep mathematical structure is God, or the mind of God, or is evidence for a creator. But, why isn’t this insight, that the universe is deeply mathematical, sufficient in itself? The additional mystical interpretation doesn’t seem to add anything. There is, anyway, an alternative to this Platonic view, namely that we should think of mathematics as simply an invention of the human mind, which we use as a tool to model our limited perceptions of the universe… This Aristotelian view, which I share, sees the universe as something we try to characterize, measure, describe.”

Mathematical Platonism 43 incorporates three theses: The existence, abstractness and independence of mathematical objects. This means that had there not been any intelligent agents, or had their language, thought, or practices been different, there would still have been mathematical objects. Platonism must be distinguished from the view of Plato in history. ‘Platonism’ is simply inspired by Plato's famous theory of abstract and eternal Forms and Platonism is quite independent of its original historical inspiration. 43. But the Mathematical Platonism we describe is broader than the purely metaphysical ‘Platonism’ because we attempt in our models to incorporate mathematics directly into science recognizing that we can not only apply it empirically but use the equations of consciousness as part of the model.

Platonism implies that reality extends far beyond the physical world and includes objects which aren't part of the causal and spatiotemporal order studied by the physical sciences. Mathematical Platonism argues beyond naturalistic theories of knowledge. If philosophical analysis revealed mathematics to have some strange and surprising consequences, it would be unattractive simply to reject mathematics. With respect, the mathematics we present below are far beyond naturalistic mathematics, and extends to empirical particle physics and postulates beyond that. Therefore, Mathematical Platonism is very powerful as presented below.

As proponents of the Triadic Rotational Vortical Distinction Paradigm (TDVP), Drs. Vernon Neppe and Edward Close differ markedly from Rowan-Robinson. TDVP aligns to some extent with the Platonic worldview, except that is applied not only philosophically, but mainly based on empirical inductive and deductive reasoning and applying feasibility as a method of the Philosophy of Science. 41; 44 We are not therefore ‘astounded’ that the universe is deeply mathematical, - we expected it. And we are not ‘driven’ to ‘mystical interpretation’; we see it as natural, satisfying, and more to the point, explanatory. It explains many things that the materialistic Aristotelian worldview cannot. It is the materialistic Aristotelians who are astounded, and see speculation concerning a conscious substrate as ‘mystical’. The insight is ‘sufficient in itself’, only if we choose not to look any farther. It doesn’t seem to add anything only if you are content to ignore the clues in relativity and quantum physics that cry out for explanation. It doesn’t seem to occur to materialistic scientists steeped in Cartesian dualism that if there were not some kind of (Platonic, if you must) deeper reality, their mathematical descriptions would not work. The challenge to science is to explore the deeper reality. Reality is ‘mystical’ only if you don’t seek to understand it.

Mathematics is not just an abstract human artifact. Far from it, the deep logic of mathematics is invariant because it actually reflects the true underlying logical, intelligent structure of reality. The basic axioms and theorems of mathematics remain unchanged when dimensional transformations are applied. Thus the logic of mathematics is a prime example of invariance.

The only thing that is an artifact of the human mind is the notation developed to convey the mathematic and dimensional logic underlying reality. While it seems that we may invent whatever mathematical procedures we wish, the same invariant mathematical laws would be discovered by any sentient being. They would then be expressed in whatever symbolic language might be applicable.
All mathematical reasoning and description is based on the conscious drawing of distinctions, starting with the distinction of self from other, which then allows the drawing of three types of distinctions in the “other”: distinctions of extent, content and impetus, which are measurable, contain meaning and purpose, and impact on other objects. This reflects the very basic form of mathematical logic which Close developed and we’ve now amplified, the Calculus of Distinctions 10. It is combined with Euclidean and hyper-dimensional geometry, requires a nine-dimensional reality containing the basic “stuff” of the universe, and provides the framework for describing the elementary particles that appear to be the building blocks of the physical universe. This is the logical extension of very important work started by Hermann Minkowski, Albert Einstein, Georg Cantor, Theodor Kaluza, Oskar Klein, and others, who made significant progress explaining physical phenomena in the framework of multidimensional geometry 36; 8.

The third form

Based on the natural structure of number theory and mathematical invariants relating to dimensional domains, we developed TDVP as a paradigm that describes reality as consisting of the substances of mass and energy interacting within nine finite dimensions embedded within infinite domains containing a potentially infinite number of finite logical patterns. Based on clues from relativity and quantum physics, these domains contain the logical organizing structure that guides the evolution of a stable universe. We hypothesize that the infinite substrate may constitute consciousness itself with space and embedded within it, and mass energy also being contained within this infinite consciousness container (which we call “gimmel”) 12.

The brilliant physicist Wolfgang Pauli worked on developing five- and six-dimensional models until 1953, but didn’t publish his findings because he was bothered by the appearance of what he called “…rather unphysical shadow particles.”5 Since Pauli’s , science has discovered that just over 95% of the substance of reality consists of some sort of “shadow stuff”, presently called “dark energy” and “dark matter” 45-48and, not directly detectable through the physical senses or extensions of them. 12
The mathematics and dimensionometry of TDVP indicate that a third form of the “stuff” of reality is actually necessary in the sub-atomic structure of reality for there to be any stable elements in the physical universe; i.e. in order for there to be something rather than nothing.

The logic of TDVP also suggests that this third form of substance may be imbued with the qualities we associate with consciousness. It is interesting to note that late in his life, Pauli, who was regarded as the most brilliant mind of his day by many physicists, including no less brilliant minds than Albert Einstein and Max Born, dreamt of “unifying matter and spirit within the world of physics.”5

The untestable models of contemporary physics

In mainstream physical science, some progress is being made in multi-dimensional concepts with the acceptance of time as a fourth dimension, and the concept of multiple “curled-up” space-like” and “time-like” dimensions of various string theories, which, unfortunately, remain untestable 19-22; 49. Progress in developing testable multidimensional models with consciousness components has been hindered by the acceptance in the academic community of Materialistic Monism which excludes consciousness from the paradigm of physical science and has promoted an increasingly materialistic trend in scientific thinking in recent years. Also, formal education has become institutionalized and has prevented most mainstream physicists from looking outside the box of materialism for the link between consciousness and the physical universe, i.e. between the dimensionometric domains of mind and matter. In the established scientific disciplines, students who ask about the ‘higher intelligence’ spoken of by former scientists like Newton, Planck and Einstein, are often ridiculed by egotistic professors, and told that such ‘mystical’ concepts have no place in science.

TDVP and its pertinence

Guided by the mathematical structure of number theory, Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry, particle physics data, and new mathematical tools created for the purpose of including the direct interaction of conscious entities with objective reality at the quantum level, we have developed TDVP, a model of reality that includes spinning elementary distinctions existing in nine finite dimensions embedded in a conscious substrate that contains all of the logical patterns, reflected and/or potentially reflected in the structure of the physical universe. Within the theoretical framework of TDVP, we are able to explain a number of phenomena that have remained inexplicable in the standard model of particle physics for decades, including the stability of the triadic combination of quarks 1, the intrinsic spin 28 of Fermions 24; 50, the Cabibbo mixing angle 26, and the step-by-step development of the structures of the Elements of the Periodic Table 1.

TDVP is a paradigm shift that explains why there is something rather than nothing. And, it expands the “Standard Model” of physics 3; 51 to include a new theoretical basis for the biological, psychological and life sciences, as well as for little-understood and rare phenomena like remote viewing, out-of-body experiences (OBEs) and other so-called paranormal or psi phenomena. 52 9 It even provides for a better understanding of spiritual experiences that have been occasionally documented to impinge upon physical reality under certain conditions.

Not surprisingly, TDVP also requires a significant expansion of our understanding of mathematics in general. In 1986, Close realized that George Spencer Brown’s Calculus of Indications, presented in “Laws of Form” 53, re-uniting for the first time, imaginary numbers with symbolic logic, and thus re-aligning the algebras of logic with mathematics, was the first step toward integrating number theory, geometry and mathematical physics into a comprehensive logical framework capable of describing and explaining physical, chemical, biological, neurological, psychological, and even spiritual phenomena.

We adapted Brown’s Laws of Form, creating the Calculus of Dimensional Distinctions (CoDD), a comprehensive mathematics dealing with the functions of consciousness, and applied it to some long-standing cosmological puzzles. Some of the results were published in “Infinite Continuity, a Theory Unifying Relativity and Quantum Physics” 35 in 1990, and in “Transcendental Physics, Integrating the search for Truth” 36. By introducing appropriate additional notational structure, the Calculus of Distinctions was refined to become the Calculus of Dimensional Distinctions (CoDD) in 2003 38. From 2008 to the present, we amplified this mathematical tool, recognizing it as the logical basis integrating all mathematics and applications to physical and spiritual reality has been systematically applied to develop the mathematical basis of TDVP. 10

TDVP CONTROVERSY

Drs Close, Stewart and O'Brien at a conference

TDVP STIRS SOME CONTROVERSY

A critique of the Triadic Dimensional Distinction Paradigm (TDVP) has been published in the fourth quarter 2018 issue of Telicom, the journal of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry (ISPE), an organization in which both Dr. Vernon Neppe and I hold the highest earned rank. We have prepared separate responses: My response deals mainly with the math and physics, while Dr. Neppe’s response deals with the philosophy of science aspects of the criticisms. Our responses will be published in the next issue of Telicom.

I hope all who have read the critique, entitled “An Evaluation of TDVP” by physicists J.E.F. Kaan and Simon Olling Rebsdorf, will also read our responses. The “evaluation” contains more than forty misunderstandings, misinterpretations and erroneous statements, stemming mainly from the authors’ failure to understand the basics of TDVP physics and mathematical proofs.

Scientific paradigm shifts are often strongly denounced, maligned and ridiculed by mainstream scientists when they are first introduced. There are many reasons that this happens, including defense of established ideas, vested interest, intellectual arrogance, and pride. TDVP is no exception. In fact, because it introduces consciousness into the equations of physics and includes explanations of spiritual phenomena, it draws more criticism, anger and vitriol from mainstream scientists than most paradigm shifts, partially because many mainstream scientists are avowed atheists.

One of the claims that critics like Kaan and Rebsdorf make is that no “real” scientists have reviewed our work. Nothing could be further from the truth. The book “Reality Begins with Consciousness” (www.BrainVoyage.com) by Neppe and Close, and an increasing number of peer-reviewed papers, as well as journal articles and posts on this blog, have been well received by a growing number of scientists world-wide. Over 200 scientists have reviewed some or all of our work. Here are a few comments by some of them:

Dr. David Stewart, PhD, DNM, mathematical physicist, author of 17 books, the world’s leading authority on therapeutic essential oils, has read almost all of our work. He wrote:
“The Close-Neppe seminal work in creating TDVP constitutes one of the most profound and far-reaching discoveries and developments in the history of the sciences. …When two polymaths make discoveries that are so groundbreaking they change the whole fabric of reality, it is clear that this is Nobel Prize material.”- The authors many years of labor will be appreciated for centuries to come. …The exceptional metaparadigm of the Neppe-Close TDVP model certainly is worthy of the highest of prizes because it has redefined the spiritual within the scientific, and with another related Neppe-Close achievement LFAF (Lower Dimensional Feasibility Absent Falsification) has allowed the formal integration of spirituality into science by extending definitions of science to include what is feasible. These works are actually Nobel Prize worthy, and have been for a number of years. The only thing that could have been argued against a Nobel in 2016, was to say, ‘All these mathematical calculations fit. But are they, in fact, empirically based? Are they relevant? Or are they just as irrelevant as the various String Theories or Superstring Theories?’ We can now say quite definitively that ‘the truly remarkable and meaningful Neppe-Close TDVP work is empirically based’: The CERN data calculated using mass-energy equivalent figures are exactly the same derivations that appear for the Close-Neppe Triadic Rotational Units of Equivalence (TRUE). This means that their TDVP data is real and based on mathematically sound empirical data, not just mathematical. In other words, combining the third substance ‘gimmel’ that Close demonstrated is absolutely necessary for our stable quantal, macroworld, and our cosmological existence, the mass/energy volumetric equivalence of subatomic particles -- namely electrons (1), protons (1836) and neutrons (1839)--exactly correspond with the normalized figures …This means that TRUE and gimmel is real. There is now no argument that these discoveries are relevant and empirically verifiable ….”

Israeli scientist, Dr. Adrian Klein, DD, PhD, a leading biophysicist, has critically examined almost all our work. He says TDVP is:
“The beginning of the ultimate disclosure about the nature of an all-encompassing reality…A monumental work forcing obsolete preconceptions to crumble. The 21st Century's revolutionary paradigm shift …(Neppe and Close) have unique moral strength to confront destabilizing adversities …to underpin this universal truth with physical-mathematical rigor and proofs.…Demolishing by these proofs the last crutches of materialistic tenets, they bring a massive contribution to the advancement of Real Science… (TDVP) has laid a foundation for all future science to develop. The world of scientific understanding, in all fields, has been permanently changed, and set in a new direction. The future of all mankind is forever brighter because of what they have done.… they will both be awarded … a Nobel Prize in Physics (or) equivalent Mathematics Fields Medal. The Neppe-Close contributions will change mankind's future. A seismic shift in understanding the understanding process itself! The 21st Century's revolutionary paradigm shift.

Indian atomic physicist Surendra Pokharna, PhD says:
 “These two scientists [Close and Neppe] were unanimously equal recipients of the rarely awarded worldwide highly respected, prestigious interdisciplinary, open-to-all prize, the 2016 Whiting Memorial Award from the…ISPE for TDVP…an earthshaking paradigm shift. (www.tddvp.com) Their extraordinarily groundbreaking TDVP paradigm which they jointly have painstakingly developed over ten years. stands as the most profound scientific work of this century. TDVP deserves a Nobel Prize in Physics (and) involves not just one breakthrough, but constitutes many revolutionary advances. [They have proved]  we cannot have any particle, tiny or macroscopic or in our astronomical reality, without what is called ‘gimmel’— Neppe, Close and I and others regard gimmel as consciousness, or its vehicle as there is simply no other explanation … Neppe and Close have provided the data to solve complex questions by TDVP. Effectively, once one introduces extra dimensions, infinite continuity which embeds the 9 finite quantized dimensions, and consciousness/gimmel—“the God Matrix”— with math proofs plus unified reality as key points, the solutions for all finite reality become easier. This is why their TDVP model—unlike any other scientific model based on the Theory of Everything (TOE) criteria analysis—works, and why TDVP so closely reflects and encompasses the spiritual aspects.”

Dr. Alan Hugenot DSc, a uniquely qualified physicist and parapsychological researcher wrote:
“After having first read their papers my initial personal reaction was ‘This deserves a Nobel prize’! Later, I discovered that these two polymaths belong to the same high intellect societies in which I held personal membership, and in my opinion, they appear to be amongst the most creative thinkers currently advancing science in our world today.” … Ultimately, these two creative genius scientists have changed the world. in order to look at the mathematics, Neppe and Close have recognized that there needs to be volume in everything. And if something is volumetric, this means it is 3-dimensional; it effectively can be calculated mathematically in terms of cubes. This leads to a whole string of Diophantine equations and what calculations do and do not fit within our empirical reality… the far-reaching implications of the TDVP groundbreaking paradigm worthy of several separate Nobel Prizes”. “The Neppe-Close contributions …might take 50 years… to register with the myopic main-stream scientific establishment, which continues to ignore the clear implications of the delayed choice double-slit experiment, comfortable in their classical Newtonian perspectives. So large is this sea-change in science, because this relates to 3s-1t (as well as the ‘hidden’ additional dimensions) that it will modify our understanding of Relativity theory. Relativity is not wrong; but there has to be extensions of this theory beyond our currently limited standard model…even Planck’s quantum has been modified by Neppe-Close.…this difference is profound.”

The well-known author, Dr. Larry Dossey MD, winner of numerous awards, Chief Editor of Explore, said:
“…an enormous contribution whose significance may surpass, even the profound implications of TDVP for cosmology and physics…Neppe and Close have reversed the dismal conclusions of materialistic science toward consciousness, and have made the concept of immortality and the survival of bodily death scientifically respectable…The main contribution of Neppe and Close has been made, the deed is done. This may make all the difference in humanity’s psychospiritual equipoise. …It is difficult to imagine a greater contribution.”

Dr. Leonard Horowitz, award-winning writer, film-maker, polymath, and author of twenty-one books wrote:
“Math doesn’t lie. Nor does Neppe and Close misrepresent or omit substantive facts explaining reality in their thesis. … Geniuses Neppe and Close apply honest principles from their TDVP model that mathematically proves the existence and operation of the ‘Higher Intelligence’ administering precognition (or intuition). … (They) go further than anyone else in addressing the numerous aspects …neglected by their scientific predecessors… ”

Dr. Gary E. Schwartz, PhD, Professor of psychology, medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and surgery, University of Arizona, Tucson, wrote:
“Dear Ed and Vernon, First, it was wonderful hearing Ed present at the ASCI meetings. … I found myself understanding, appreciating, and celebrating what the two of you have been doing. In fact, as I look over the 40 years of my attending scientific meetings, Ed's presentation is among THE MOST MEMORABLE AND MEANINGFUL of my entire academic (and personal) life”.

Many more PhD professors and researchers have responded briefly to our book Reality Begins with Consciousness (RBC) as follows:
Dean Radin PhD, the world’s leading parapsychological researcher: Close and Neppe’s book, “RBC [is] in a radical multidisciplinary class by itself”;
Alan Bachers PhD: “an astonishing and prodigious accomplishment!”;
John Poynton PhD: “encyclopedic … broad exploratory paradigm for new scientific ideas”;
Lance Storm PhD: “a paradigm shift that hails in, if not, beckons for, a kind of scientific overhaul and shift in thinking”;
Helmut Wautischer PhD “will shape philosophical discourse … a profound value to the future of humankind…masterful…”
Joyce Hawkes PhD, FAAAS, biophysicist and the leading exponent of healing: “…any one of these [31] areas, let alone the combination would be a very substantial reason for Drs. Neppe and Close to be recipients of major prizes”;
Stanley Krippner PhD, pioneer of world Humanistic Psychology: destined to become a classic in the literature on shifting paradigms and worldviews”.
And, there are many more.

We are currently corresponding with a number of PhD professionals interested in the applications and implications of TDVP and the natural quantum units of the calculus of dimensional distinctions. I have had a number of informal discussions with Mr. Kaan over a period of several years, but I can’t say that they were very productive, because his comments were generally negative, with no in-depth discussion of the concepts behind TDVP; and I have had no previous discussions with Mr. Rebsdorf.

As a preview of the Telicom articles pro-and-con TDVP, here are some brief excerpts from Kaan and Rebsdorf’s article, with excerpts from my reply. In their Summary and Conclusions, oddly placed at the beginning of the article instead of the end, they say:

TDVP claims to have been able to improve on the Standard Model of Particle Physics (SMPP). Yet from our analysis, such “improvements” do not appear scientifically correct, i.e., they have not been derived with proper physics methods. In addition, there are no concrete, quantitative, accurate measurements/experiments to support TDVP’s claims.

Farther along in the article, they expand several times on the claim that our methods are not “proper physics methods”. Here is one example:

Close calculated negative numbers for gimmel, but then continued with some number juggling (with arbitrary integers for gimmel), until the whole thing seemed to work again, which is not an established sound method in physics.

My response, in part:
The negative calculated values were simply part of the iterative computation used to establish the minimum possible integral solution. None of the values used …were “arbitrary”. And any experimental or theoretical physicist should be familiar with the method of using best estimates as the starting point to iteratively zero in on the values that actually satisfy an equation. This method, called iterative computation, is used routinely and extensively in applied physics and engineering.” And I gave a reference supporting my answer.

Concerning their statement “there are no concrete, quantitative, accurate measurements/experiments to support TDVP’s claims” I responded with:

In fact, we have checked upwards of fifty specific instances to see if TDVP actually works for prior existing experiments, and it does.”

The most important concept that K&R failed to grasp, is the need for a calculus with measurement units that are derived from the natural quanta of the real world. This failure is clear in their reference to Figure 1, on page 147 of their article:

 “… the mass values are assumed to be integers, apparently to be in line with quantum physics. Yet from the data in Figure 1, we can see the quark masses are not integer at all. The same will, of course, be found in any text on this topic.”

Excerpts from my answer:
“ …these data for quarks (in their figure), along with the mass of the electron, are the actual data used in the derivation of natural quantum units in the TDVP calculations. Quark masses are naturalized to the mass of the electron, the most accurately known quantum mass. The way they are naturalized is straight-forward and should be understood by any physicist or mathematician.”

And:
“ The derivation of natural quantum units for TDVP has been published several times, including in Reality Begins with Consciousness and in several peer-reviewed papers in addition to my Transcendental Physics blog — http://www.erclosetphysics.com.” (And, I gave references.)

“Any quantum physicist should be familiar with the conversion of SI units to natural units. and physicists should at least be familiar with naturalized Planck units. They shouldn’t have to be told why that, even though mass is quantized, the values in Figure 1 are not integers. They are not integers because the units of measurement being used are not naturalized quantum equivalence units.”

Why did two intelligent men (they are members of ISPE) with Masters degrees in physics make such obvious blunders? It appears that they did not actually try to understand TDVP because they were focused on defending the standard model.

As I say in my conclusions, at the end of my response article:
“It appears that the authors believe TDVP can’t be correct, because it includes consciousness as an integral part of reality, conflicting with the dogma of mainstream physics”.

After the responses are published in Telicom, I will post more.

THE ULTIMATE QUESTION

THE ANSWER

In 1987, when we returned from what was my third tour working and living overseas, and settled in a nice place in Southern California, not far from the beach, bumper-stickers were very popular. There were a lot of them with Christian slogans and Biblical verses. One afternoon, I saw a car go by with a bumper sticker featuring the sign of the fish, declaring: “Jesus is the Answer!” And on the very next car, there was a bumper sticker with the star of David, followed by: “What was the Question?” In my mind I heard a skeptical Jewish voice say: “Vot vuz th’ Qvest’n?” I had to smile, and wondered what the next bumper sticker would say.

What is the question? All human answers, whether scientific, philosophical, religious, or personal, arise to satisfy questions of some sort, and I would argue that all valid questions arise from some form of the ultimate question: What is the nature of reality?  Such an important question!  But, even this ultimate question is not without need for further exploration and deeper thought: The question “Who am I?” must also be asked, because without knowing who you are, the question “What is the nature of reality?” has no importance. Without a ‘who’, the nature of ‘what’ makes no difference whatsoever. Without a who to experience the what, reality could be anything, or nothing, and it wouldn’t matter.

So, what’s the answer? The answer is YOU; you are the answer. The answer to all questions lies within you. Your life is a gift from God. Don’t waste it. This life is your opportunity to find the answer.
