QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT DIMENSIONS

MORE ABOUT DIMENSIONS

There seems to be some confusion about what a dimension is, what a dimension is not, and how additional dimensions, if they exist, relate to the three dimensions of space and one dimension of time that we think we know so well. It is not unusual these days to hear someone who has seen a strange object zip across the sky, say: “UFOs must come from another dimension”, or someone who has had a near-death experience may say that they “saw an alternate reality in an extra dimension.” Statements like these illustrate what I mean by confusion about what a dimension is, and about what the word “dimension” means.

This confusion about dimensions is due largely to the fact that the concept of dimensionality has been poorly defined, even by mainstream scientists and mathematicians. One thing I can say about dimensions with some confidence, is that dimensions of space and time are not what most people think they are. After many years of research and defining how the measurement of the dimensions of space and time change with relative motion, Einstein concluded that space has no existence apart from being a structural feature of physical reality. He said: “Time and space are modes by which we think and not conditions in which we live.” Conclusion: The dimensions of space and time are just measurable aspects of the form of physical reality, not “things” in the sense that mountains, trees, and other physical objects are.

When I write or speak about the extra dimensions of the TDVP model of reality, typical questions that I am asked include the following:

“If space is not a real thing like the atmosphere or an ocean, why are there three dimensions of space? Why not two, or four, or some other number? Why do you say there are also three dimensions of time and three dimensions of consciousness? If these extra dimensions actually exist, what exactly are they? Where are they? And why don’t we see them the way we see the three dimensions of space?”

I will try to answer these questions here, but first, I first want to be absolutely certain that you know what I mean when I say the word dimension.

Dimension is a common word, a word that ordinary people use all the time. Everyone knows what is meant by the word when it is used in regard to the size of a room, or the dimensions of a box to be shipped. In general, the dimensions of a physical object are length, width, and height or depth. But the same word is also used to describe qualities or aspects of reality that have nothing to do with the dimensions of space and time. For example, you might hear a psychiatrist speak of dimensions of mental health, or a musician refer to the emotional dimensions of a beautiful symphony or a patriotic march. These uses of the word are legitimate and understandable, but, for clarity in TDVP, and in these discussions, the word dimension must be defined with one, and only one, very specific meaning:

A dimension is the measurable, directional extent of a finite distinction, i.e., a measure of the extent of a finite object or group of objects.

The measurement of any other feature of objective reality is not a dimension. For example, measures of mass are measures of content, not extent. There are also measures of impact and intent, but in these discussions, when I use the word dimension, I am referring to a measure of extent, nothing more, nothing else. Dimensions are measures of extent, and only measures of extent.

With this brief introduction to the subject of dimensionality, I will proceed trying to remove as much of the confusion about dimensions as I can by answering the specific questions about dimensions listed above.

Clarifying the Terminology and Answering the Questions

Realization that what we call dimensions are actually just measures of the geometric structure of reality, makes it clear that it is incorrect to say that something, e.g., a UFO, can come from a dimension, or that anything exists in a dimension. Saying that UFOs come from another dimension is like saying that a 3-D object comes from length. Similarly, saying that an alternate reality exists in another dimension is incorrect because nothing can exist in a dimension, instead, every real thing exists in a multi-dimensional domain of three or more dimensions.

Dimensions are simply measurements of the extent of an object or objects contained in a given volumetric domain. UFOs, regardless of where they might come from, suddenly appear in our 4-D spacetime awareness when the domain of our perception is expanded to include the energies of the content of an extra dimensional domain, energies not normally in the range of our organs of vision. And what appear to be alternate realities are probably glimpses of more detail of the complex reality that exists in domains with more dimensions than we normally perceive. With that, I will try to answer the specific questions that have been asked regarding the extra dimensions of the TDVP model of reality.

Why are there three dimensions of space? Why not two, or four, or some other number? (This question is not asked as often as the others in the list, but I am addressing it first because the answer is the basis for the other questions and answers.)

If space had less than three dimensions, there would be no physical universe, because at least three dimensions are required to contain objects with mass and energy. Physical objects are composed of rotating mass and energy vortices, and the stable, uniform rotation of a finite object can only occur if the object is symmetric around three rotational axes equally distant from each other, i.e., 90 degrees apart, on any 360-degree circumference drawn on the surface of a sphere constructed around the object.

Applications of the CoDD to the dynamics and combinations of electrons, quarks, protons, and neutrons, reveal that because of this, they have an intrinsic ½ spin. From this it follows that finite, rotating objects with an integer multiple of ½ spin (that includes the Fermions, the “particles” that make up atomic structure) are volumetric phenomena that can only exist in dimensional domains with three or more dimensions. This means that stable elementary particles are symmetrical objects rotating in three dimensions, and since dimensions reflect the structure of the field of matter and energy, space has at least three dimensions. But could space have more than three dimensions?

The TDVP quantum description of the process of moving from one dimensional domain to the next, i.e., from an n-dimensional domain to the n+1-dimensional domain, is a process that I call dimensional extrapolation. This process reveals a surprising mathematical invariance: After each series of three projections from domain to domain, the unit of projection, which is also the base unit of the additional dimension creating the n+1 dimensional domain, must change to a different, more complex type of number. Otherwise, the projection does not leave the n-dimensional domain; it is just a movement from one point to another within the n-dimensional domain. The projection extends out of the three-dimensional domain of physical space, e.g., if, and only if, the unitary projection is transformed from one quantum equivalence unit to one ‘imaginary’ unit. Then, and only then, the projection leaves the space domain. Therefore, there can be three, and only three, dimensions of space.

Note for those interested in the math and physics of this invariance: The proof of this very significant conclusion involves applications of the Calculus of Dimensional Distinctions, the Pythagorean Theorem, Fermat’s Last Theorem, infinite descent proofs, and the discovery of the existence of gimmel, the quantized, non-physical part of quantum reality that creates stable nucleons and the life-supporting atoms of the Periodic Table of Elements.

Also, of note for those interested in the math: All of the unitary projections from one dimensional domain to the next are members of the set of the primitive roots of unity. When these projections are calculated sequentially, a marked increase in complexity occurs in the form of the unitary projection with each third projection. This correlates with the increase in the physical complexity of the contents of the dimensional domains after each series of three.

Why do you say there are also three dimensions of time and three dimensions of consciousness?

Answer: Because of this dimensional domain invariance, in any n to n+1 projection, as described above. When the process of dimensional extrapolation is applied to move the focus of unitary projection from the sixth dimension to the seventh, the unit of projection changes again, from imaginary to complex. The change in complexity of the projection unit reflects the increase in complexity of the content of the new triad of dimensional domains. This difference of complexity is apparent in the change in complexity that occurs moving from the three dimensions of space into the dimensional domain of time. The change is even greater when moving from domains of  spacetime into the dimensional domain of consciousness.

If these extra dimensions actually exist, what exactly are they, and where are they?

Bear in mind that dimensions have no existence of their own. They are simply measures of extent, reflecting the manifold complexity of the content of the dimensional domains they encompass, i.e., the shape of the field of reality existing within the domain. And the extra dimensions of reality are not things existing somewhere else. If you expand your consciousness to include one more dimension beyond your current awareness, then you find that the new dimensional domain contains everything you were aware of before, and more. It’s like moving from the focus of reading an interesting book, to suddenly realizing that there is a greater reality all around you.

Why don’t we see them the way we see the three dimensions of space?”

This question reveals how deeply in our minds the confusion about what a dimension is and is not, is rooted. No one can “see” a dimension because dimensions are not things the way a house, tree, or any object distinguished from the rest of reality is. You do not see dimensions; you see the contents of a dimensional domain. Consider, for example, a tree growing outside my office window. It is made up of a variety of atoms and molecules vibrating at frequencies that reflect light vibrating at frequencies that my eyes, optic nerves, and brain cells can receive, process, and interpret as an image of a tree.

The range of frequencies that my physical eyes can receive is limited to a narrow band of vibratory frequencies, and it appears, from my research into the nature of consciousness, that the physical senses are just fragmented parts of a potentially much greater awareness of the vast vibratory reality existing all around us in higher dimensional domains.

Dimensions and Consciousness

In the last blogpost, I quoted physicist John Archibald Wheeler, who said: “Useful as it is under everyday circumstances to say that the world exists ‘out there’ independent of us, that view can no longer be upheld. There is a strange sense in which this is a ‘participatory universe’.” Application of the CoDD dispels much, if not all, of this strangeness. As mentioned above, it shows us some surprising things about the structure of sub-atomic physical reality. For example, it reveals that elementary particles are not rigid particles, and explains why quarks combine in threes to form protons, which are the most stable objects in the physical universe. A greater understanding of this mutability of physical reality at the quantum scale could lead to truly remarkable advances in every field of science.

In Laws of Form, G. Spencer Brown says that “Although all forms, and thus all universes, are possible, and any particular form is mutable, it becomes evident that the laws relating such forms are the same in any universe.”  Application of the CoDD to analyze the formation of stable atoms from the combination of quarks and electrons, shows us that physical reality has the same structural form at the quantum level as the logical topological structure of analytical geometry, which, when combined with the concepts of number and equivalence, form the basis of pure mathematics. It also reveals the existence of gimmel, the quantifiable non-physical link between the physical universe and consciousness. With the discovery of gimmel, we finally begin to understand why the physical universe has the same logical structure as consciousness and pure mathematics. The dimensions of space, time, and consciousness are intimately interconnected by mathematical invariances in every dimensional domain.

Consciousness is no stranger to us. It is the only thing we experience directly. For this reason, it is difficult to define. It is a fundamental part of reality, if for no other reason, because it is absolutely impossible to know anything about the physical universe without consciousness. As Max Planck said: “We cannot get behind consciousness.” So, let’s have a deeper look at consciousness. The first distinction we draw as conscious beings, is the distinction of self from other, the difference between “in here” versus “out there”. Because of this distinction, we think “I am in here, and everything else is out there”. But is this really true, or is it just a belief based on limited information?

A fundamental difference between consciousness and physical reality that we tend to overlook is that “in here”, space and time are infinitely continuous and infinitely divisible, while out there, the physical universe is finite and discretely quantized. Before the discoveries of Max Planck and Albert Einstein, we assumed that the physical universe existing “out there” was infinitely continuous and infinitely divisible just like the “in here” of consciousness. We know now that this is not true; and it becomes important to find out exactly how infinitely continuous consciousness interacts with the finite distinctions of physical reality. This interaction is largely hidden from us as human beings because it happens at the quantum scale, extremely far below the operating range of our physical senses.

Applications of the Calculus of Dimensional Distinctions with the Triadic Rotational Unit of Equivalence (TRUE) as the basic unit of measurement, have shown that our limited awareness of three dimensions of space, and a succession of moments on one timeline, is the result of the limited functioning of our physical senses and the organization of mass and energy in a stable form. Analyzing the combination of quarks to form the proton, we find that this stability is assured by the existence of a specific number of units of a measurable third form of quantum reality that we call gimmel.

Gimmel is categorically different than the other forms of reality because it has no physical mass or energy. The existence of non-physical gimmel not only stabilizes physical reality at the quantum scale, but it also causes it to take on the specific structural form it does. That stable structure leads to the formation of certain elements (hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, etc.) that make up the organic compounds that form the basis for the development and support of living organisms. These living organisms, because of the influence of gimmel, have some level of consciousness and self-awareness from the first single-celled living thing, to the most complex of all life forms.

Extra Dimensions? So What?!

Finally, I think when people ask about what the extra dimensions predicted by the TDVP model are, they are really asking about what expanded awareness into the extra dimensional domains of 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 dimensions of reality reveals. Perhaps the question should be: What would a person with his or her consciousness expanded to receive energies from these extra dimensions see and experience? I touched on answers to this question in the post of October 24, 2021, titled “DIMENSIONS OF SPACE, TIME, AND CONSCIOUSNESS”. The reader might want to review that post in conjunction with this post.

The answers I gave there are controversial from the point of view of many mainstream scientists because people who have experienced expanded states of consciousness during meditation, spiritual inspiration, or in traumatic near-death experiences, are considered by those who ascribe to simple materialism as their basic philosophical belief system, to be psychotic or delusional. Despite the growing number of verified cases of extra-sensory perception during NDEs and OBEs, reports of expanded states of awareness are still generally considered to be paranormal and subjective by mainstream science. However, TDVP provides, for the first time, a comprehensive scientific framework that explains psychic abilities as natural effects of expanded consciousness.

The real value and purpose of having an improved model of reality is to develop a realistic map of the path leading to the goal of human existence: Cosmic Consciousness; and that path may start at the quantum level, where we find the first direct evidence of the interaction of consciousness and physical reality.

DIMENSIONS OF SPACE, TIME, AND CONSCIOUSNESS

DIMENSIONS OF SPACE, TIME, AND CONSCIOUSNESS

In the last post, I promised to answer two questions that are often asked about the Neppe-Close TDVP model of reality:

“What are the three dimension of time and the three dimensions of consciousness?”

Before I attempt to answer these questions, I want to present a little more background, and discuss some key concepts and definitions so that my answers can be understood in the proper context.

Background

In 1985 and 1986, I began the development of a quantum calculus, inspired in part by G. Spencer Brown’s Laws of Form. Applications of the quantum calculus, which I called the calculus of dimensional distinctions, led to a series of discoveries, and eventually to the model of reality that Dr. Vernon Neppe and I call the Triadic Dimensional Vortical Paradigm (TDVP). The early work I did from the 1950s until about 2000, was documented and published in 1977, 1989 and 1997 (See the reference list at the end of this blogpost). Dr. Neppe and I began working together in 2008, and we have published many of our findings in journal papers and the book Reality Begins with Consciousness, first published in 2011, with several editions since.

We discovered that not only are human observations of reality through the five physical senses limited to certain narrow bands of electro-magnetic energy and bio-mechanical vibratory frequencies, but they are also limited to a specific number of dimensions and partial dimensions. The additional frequencies and dimensions are not really hidden, they exist all around us, but our physical senses are just not capable of detecting all of them. Proof of this exists in a number of TDVP explanations of conundrums and paradoxes that exist in the current mainstream paradigm. All of these explanations coincide either exactly, or well within sampling and measurement error, with verified experimental data.

A reaction that occurs fairly often when I mention three dimensions of time is: “You mean Past, present, and future?”  No. Experience shows us that we perceive the same dimensions in the past and future as we do in the present. For conscious individuals, the first dimension of time is experienced as a distinct sequence of experiences creating a series of mental images -models if you will- of events perceived as happening at specific moments along a one-way timeline. Before I explain what the other dimensions of time and the dimensions of consciousness are, I must define exactly what I mean by dimensions and dimensional domains, so that we are on the same page.

What is a dimension?

Most people are familiar with the three dimensions of space: length, width, and height or depth. But many are not so familiar with the way they are defined mathematically. The concept of space is formalized in a mathematically logical manner by defining an axiomatic system of measurements. Several systems have been devised, including polar and spherical coordinate systems, but the most widely used and understood system begins with Cartesian plane coordinates, developed about four hundred years ago by the famous French mathematician Rene Descartes.

Descartes realized that every point along a line could be uniquely located by a single number representing the distance from an arbitrary starting point on the line. Designating that starting point as zero, he constructed a second line extending from the starting point perpendicular to the first line and found that every point in the plane between the two lines could be uniquely located with two positive numbers, called coordinates. This system of coordinates can be extended by constructing a third line from the zero point, extending perpendicular to the first two lines. Then, every point in the space defined by the three lines can be precisely located with three numbers. Those three numbers are the distances on each of the three lines from the zero point to the points where perpendicular lines intersect at the location of the point of interest in three-dimensional space.

This formalization of the three dimensions of space that we perceive through the physical senses can be extended conceptually to more than three dimensions. For each additional dimension, an additional number is needed to precisely locate any point. Traditionally, a geometry with more than three dimensions has been called a “hyperspace”. Application of the calculus of dimensional domains in the TDVP model revealed that additional dimensions really do exist, and that we are emersed in a complex geometry of more than three dimensions, but the dimensions beyond the simplest three are not spatial. Additional dimensions beyond the first three are the measurable extensions in time and consciousness.

When your consciousness is expanded to include more than the planar dimensions described by Descartes, you are not leaving this universe, transported into another dimension, plane, or world, existing somewhere else, you are just becoming aware of additional dimensions that already exist all around you. You just have not been aware of them before. The addition of just one dimension to your domain of awareness, however, transforms the reality you experience in ways that are almost impossible to imagine before you experience them, and nearly as impossible to describe, after you have experienced them. The mind-expanding ways in which your perceptions of reality are transformed become exponentially more complex with each added dimension.

Dimensional Domains

A dimensional domain is defined as a finite portion of extent delineated by a specific number of dimensions. In a quantified, infinitely extending multi-dimensional field, a zero-dimensional domain is a point, i.e., a mathematical singularity; a one-dimensional domain is a line segment; a two-dimensional domain is a specific area of a plane; and a three-dimensional domain is a specific volume of space. The awareness of the domain of three dimensions containing matter, energy, and conscious entities, is only possible with the awareness of a moment of time existing on the fourth dimension, and the integrated experience of consciousness on the fifth dimension. Together, they comprise the experience of being a conscious finite self-aware being. Every conscious being is actually aware of a dimensional domain of three dimensions of space, partial awareness of one dimension of time, and one dimension of consciousness.

When your consciousness is expanded to become aware of more of the dimensions of reality, you find that time and conscious extent have the same basic dimensionometric pattern as space, because they are all reflections of the logical patterns of Primary Consciousness, the substrate of reality. In order to contain objective mass, energy and gimmel, space has to have length, width, and depth. (See references on the discovery of gimmel, the non-physical third form of reality) Time and consciousness also contain images of events comprised of matter, energy, and conscious impact. Thus, they must also have dimensional extents of length, width, and depth.

Space, Time, and Consciousness, Mass, Energy, and Gimmel

Space, the simplest form of structural extent, appears at first glance, to be independent of the consciousness of the observer, but space is actually part of the multi-dimensional space-time-consciousness triadic dimensional domain, reflecting the logical structure of reality. The interdependence of space, time and consciousness becomes more obvious when we investigate the conscious experience of time.

As individual consciousness expands to include the awareness of the additional dimensions, it becomes clear that reality has six measurable primary components. Three of them are measured with variables of extent. They are the dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness. Three are measured with variables of content. They are mass, energy, and gimmel. The variables of extent are dimensions while variables of content measure the impact of the three essential aspects of finite reality. They occupy dimensional domains but are not dimensions themselves. Dimensions simply define the extent of space, time, and consciousness needed to contain the three essential forms of reality. Dimensional domains are occupied by various combinations of the three essential components of finite reality: mass, energy, and gimmel.

The Three Dimensions of Time

Now, let’s return to the discussion of the three dimensions of time: As I said above, the first dimension of time is experienced by a conscious entity as a distinct sequence of events in a series of mental images along a cause-and-effect timeline in individualized consciousness. When the cause-and-effect timeline of a second individual intersects with that timeline, the resulting time structure is analogous to a plane in space, and when the timelines of three or more individuals progressing different directions with regard to the expansion of spiritual awareness interact, that is represented mathematically as existing in three dimensions of time.

The Mathematical Structure of Reality

Application of the quantum calculus of dimensional distinctions to the interactions of the contents of reality (mass, energy, and gimmel) quantified in quantum equivalence units [also called triadic rotational units of equivalence (TRUE)], in the dimensional domain of the six dimensions of spacetime, reveals the basic mathematical structure of reality: As the domain of awareness expands from three dimensions of space to include a dimension of time, the appropriate units of measurement change from integers to imaginary numbers. After three dimensions of time, in order to expand into dimensions of consciousness, the units change from imaginary numbers to complex numbers. [For readers with formal training in advanced number theory: The unitary projection from a 3n-dimensional domain to a 3n+1 dimensional domain, (n=1,2, 3…) is the principal primitive (3n+1)th root of unity.]

The quantum calculus of dimensional distinctions mentioned above is applicable to the multi-dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness and their contents because those contents, while not measurable in variables of extent, are composed of multiples of distinctions (TRUE) creating the various dimensional domains.

This analysis leads to the conclusion that the quantized dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness include three finite dimensions of time and space plus three finite dimensions of consciousness, totaling nine finite dimensions, and the quantized aspects of the essence of reality have three primary forms each, totaling nine finite quantities. The three, six, and nine finite dimensions and the three, six, and nine finite forms defining the logical structure of quantized reality are reflected in the geometrical and numerical structure of pure mathematical logic in several ways in addition to the three main types of numbers: the natural, imaginary, and complex.

The nature of dimensions of expanded consciousness existing beyond the finite quantized nine-dimensional domain, and how they relate to the infinitely continuous field of the substrate of reality that I have called Primary Consciousness, are beyond the scope of this post. But the elegance of the three- six- and nine-mathematical logic running through the stable structures of the physical, mental, and spiritual realities that we experience is so striking that it warrants a much more detailed presentation than I have provided here; but that discussion is also beyond the scope of this post.

My intention in this post is just to provide the basic context within which the space-time-conscious dimensionality and mass-energy-gimmel content of reality, as modeled by the Close-Neppe Paradigm, can be understood. The last, and most challenging step for me is to describe what I mean by the three finite dimensions of consciousness. To do this, I must try to describe what reality must look from the vantage point of Cosmic Consciousness. I must do this based on a few brief glimpses of my own and the words of a few exceptional souls who have attained the ultimate goal of existence.

Education and the Expansion of Consciousness

To explain what I mean by dimensions of consciousness, it is necessary to clear up some common misconceptions. The reality we experience is quantized by the conscious drawing of finite distinctions of mass, energy, and gimmel in the quantized dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness. Because of this quantization and the conservation of mass and energy, dimensionless points (mathematical singularities), and the first two dimensional domains defined above: one-dimension lines, and two-dimensional spaces, do not exist in our physical universe, because they cannot contain even one quantum of the essential forms of reality, consisting of quantized mass, energy, and gimmel. All three forms are volumetric, and thus, no dimensional domain with less than three dimensions can contain combinations of the essential forms of physical reality.

What does this have to do with understanding and the three dimensions of consciousness? It is important to recognize that the physical universe is not infinitely continuous, but consciousness is, and that our physical senses detect energies that are discretely quantized in order to allow us to experience finite structures as distinctions within the infinitely continuous substrate of consciousness.

The non-existence of zero-dimensional points, one-dimensional lines, and two-dimensional planes in quantized reality, makes the infinitesimal calculus of Newton inappropriate for application at the quantum scale of existence, but mainstream science has failed to recognize this for more than one hundred years since Max Planck discovered that reality is quantized, and Albert Einstein demonstrated that measurements of space and time are dependent upon the quantization of relative motion within the maximum limit of light speed. The inappropriate application of infinitesimal calculus to quantum calculations has led to the so-called “quantum weirdness” so often highlighted by mainstream physicists, but now, application of the quantum calculus of dimensional distinctions and the discovery of gimmel removes quantum weirdness from science.

Mainstream science has been stagnated in the false belief system of dialectical materialism for nearly one hundred years, causing modern science to devolve into scientism, a well-organized atheistic religion, relegating consciousness and spiritual evolution to the realm of mythology and fantasy. Scientism embraces the unprovable negative assumptions of atheism and the worship of artificial intelligence (AI) as the savior and God of the future. AI materialism is the current reincarnation of the idolatry that the Spiritual Masters have always warned against.

Over the past sixty years since I first started teaching mathematics, I have watched education in this country slowly disintegrate and devolve into a series of social experiments driven by dialectic materialism. Under the authoritarian rule of scientific materialism, public education has become little more than governmental indoctrination and social engineering. The memorization and regurgitation of establishment-approved data and beliefs is falsely equated with learning. Enrollment in courses that improve logical thinking and critical reasoning is no longer encouraged because of the potential of producing students who might challenge the authority of government indoctrination.

The real process of education was intended to expand individual consciousness into a greater awareness of physical, mental, and spiritual reality. Rather than being forced to accept someone else’s beliefs, and being told what to think, students should be taught to think clearly and logically for themselves. They should be given greater access to the works of the great thinkers of the world, and they should be encouraged to expand their awareness and knowledge of the dimensions and content of reality. The social and political indoctrination that we are seeing in our public and private schools today, rarely lead to any real learning and understanding, and almost never to spiritual growth or wisdom. Our current educational institutions are pushing ideas and beliefs that contract awareness rather than expand it, as education should.

The Three Dimensions of Consciousness

The dimensions of consciousness are meta-dimensions. By that, I mean that they contain within them all of the finite dimensions of physical reality. They are not empty points, lines, and planes. The first dimension of consciousness is defined by the trace of the individual awareness of being, the distinction of self from other. The evolution of this awareness can be positive, negative, or stationary with regard to the goals of conscious spiritual evolution. Therefore, this trace can be represented as a line of events, or a lifetrace in the field of consciousness, but this line is not one-dimensional. Each point on the line is volumetric, i.e., at least three-dimensional, with content and extent that have meaningful impact on the consciousness of the individual.

The second dimension of consciousness is created by the awareness of two intersecting individual lifetraces. Their intersection implies the existence of a quantum plane of consciousness, whether the individuals are aware of any more than the quantum of intersection or not. When additional traces, trending in different directions than the first two, with regard to the overall spiritual growth of consciousness expansion, are perceived, three dimensions of consciousness are revealed.

Implications of the nine-dimensional model.

The mathematical inclusion of consciousness in the TDVP model of reality expands the scope of scientific analysis in ways that will probably take years to explore and require volumes of documentation. But this discussion of the implications of the TDVP model will be brief, meant only to indicate some of the potential phenomena we can investigate, and some of the directions that the research may go.

At this point in the planetary time cycle, due to the current low level of the average physical and mental ability and spiritual virtue compared to the real human potential, the progress in consciousness expansion for the majority of the Earth’s human population is hardly noticeable during one lifetime. But, since the progress can be accelerated by focus and consistent application of effective consciousness expansion techniques, it is of interest to have some knowledge of what experiences of some of the various states of expanded consciousness are like.

Once again, I find that I need to define some of the concepts relevant to consciousness expansion in a little more detail. The extent of awareness along each dimension of the domain available to an individual sentient being is limited by the focus and range of operation of the physical, mental, and spiritual senses of the individual. For example, due to being able to perceive, travel, and remember, an individual may have a considerable spatial awareness of the physical world, with a limited awareness of one dimension of time and one dimension of consciousness.

A large number of states of partial and/or total awareness of the nine finite dimensions of reality are possible relative to the current state of awareness of the average individual. For example, if an average person alive now, with the normal awareness of a domain of three dimensions of space, and partial awareness of one dimension of time, and partial awareness of one dimension of consciousness, were to expand his or her consciousness to include significant extended awareness of time and consciousness dimensions in his or her cognitive domain, then that person would be considered to be very psychic by people limited to the general level of consciousness in today’s world. That person would “see” past and future events of his/her experience, as well as those in the consciousness of others. A person with extended awareness of any dimension of time or space would be considered “gifted” by the standards of today’s society.

OTHER DIMENSIONS AND PLANES OF EXISTENCE

“OTHER DIMENSIONS” AND “PLANES OF EXISTENCE”

“There is no question that there is an unseen world. The problem is, how far is it from midtown and how late is it open?” –Woody Allen

I usually try to make my posts as understandable as I can, by providing the background for a given discourse so that the reader can grasp the message I wish to convey. But in this case, I’m going to forgo any elucidation of contextual predication and accept that those for whom this discussion might be meaningful will understand it, and anyone else will dismiss it as incomprehensible.

So-called “new age” people, and sometimes others, talk about “another dimension” and “planes of existence”. These are inexact and misleading terms that, frankly, indicate to me that those using them probably don’t actually know what they are talking about. For example, I’ve heard someone say: “The aliens exist in another dimension!” Or: My spiritual guides exist on another plane of existence.”

Nobody can exist “in a dimension”. A dimension is a measure of extent like length, width or height.
If those using the term another dimension have any inkling of what they are trying to convey, what they should say is another dimensional domain. Let me explain: A point (mathematical singularity) is a zero-dimensional domain; a line as a one-dimensional domain; a plane is a two-dimensional domain; a volume is a three-dimensional domain, and space-time is a four (or more) dimensional domain. Now, the question is not whether there are higher-dimensional domains. The problem is, how do we get there from here?

The idea of “existing on a plane” comes from the mistaken idea that we literally exist on a plane, the “Earth-plane”. We don’t. We actually exist in a multi-dimensional reality that starts with a three-dimensional domain. The surface of the Earth may be thought of as a plane, but, if you rise above it, but not too far, because if you ascend high enough (about 36,000 feet in an airliner), you will see that it is actually a curved surface, with bumps and divots in it. This should bring the realization that a two-dimensional domain can only be seen as such from the third dimension. This brings to light one of the invariants of dimensionometry: the recognition of the existence of an n-dimensional domain can only be obtained from a vantage point in an (n+1) dimensional domain.

Thinking about this gives you the conceptualization of multi-dimensional reality. In TDVP, with the application of a mathematical procedure I developed in 1989, called Dimensional Extrapolation, we have derived the mathematical nature of the dimensions of domains beyond 3-D. But mathematical derivations are reflections of the nature of reality, not actualizations of it. The ability to be able to describe something verbally and mathematically is the first step to experiencing it. That is the power of science and mathematics, they allow us to conceptualize and visualize reality beyond what is available to us through the physical senses.

Are there methods, processes and exercises that can help us to raise the level of our consciousness to the point of actually experiencing higher dimensions directly? Yes, I believe there are. This is one of the practical applications of TDVP. An understanding of TDVP provides a basis from which to ascend into higher dimensions. Is this the only way? No, but it does unite science and spirituality.

We live in a domain of nine finite dimensions, embedded in a 10-dimensional transfinite domain, embedded in the Infinite. How do I know this? The mathematics of TDVP, the Calculus of Distinctions indicates this, and I have experienced it briefly several times, and experience it partially all the time. How can one become aware of extra-dimensional reality? Remember I indicated above that describing something verbally and mathematically is the first step to experiencing it,

Verbalization and mathematical description are just two aspects of the same thing, communicating experience with symbols. Most of us remember, as children, saying a word or phrase over and over again until it becomes meaningless, just sounds, conveying nothing. This is what someone speaking a language you are not familiar with sounds like, just noise. Different than the barking of a dog or the cawing of a crow, but just sounds.

Learning mathematics is exactly like learning another language, only it is harder because no one speaks pure mathematics. People do, however, speak German, Spanish, Hebrew, Hindi, etc. So, learning to speak another language is easier than learning advanced mathematics. So, start there. The average person who speaks only English, can learn to speak enough Spanish to get by in about a month if she/he puts his/her mind to it. German is a little harder because the grammar is more complex, but English is basically a Germanic language without the grammar and a few Latin-based words thrown in, so it’s not that hard once you get beyond over the grammar. Dutch and Swedish are “in-between” languages, somewhat intermediate between German and English.

Why should you learn another language? It will help you think in terms beyond your normal habits of speech. Learning to understand and speak another language literally opens a door to  different world. Slavic, Cyrillic, French, Arabic, and Oriental languages really open doors to different ways of thinking, and learning mathematics is like learning Greek or Latin. Learning math as a language, not just a tool to use to balance your checkbook or calculate square feet of floor space, allows you to think in math, and that will open the door to TDVP and extra dimensions.

The step (leap) from writing symbols and making sounds to the actualization of the meaning of those symbols and sounds in direct experience is a big one. The step from intellectual comprehension of the mathematical procedure of dimensional extrapolation (moving from one dimensional domain to another) to directly experiencing it is definitely not an easy one, but one very much worthwhile, because it enables you to perceive matter, energy, space, and time from a new perspective. The next step, however, attaining the awareness of all levels of consciousness of fewer dimensions than the one you occupy is an even bigger jump, but the view is tremendous.

THE ULTIMATE ENIGMA

THE ULTIMATE ENIGMA

In these posts I have answered Leibniz’s single most important question: “Why is there something rather than nothing”? There is something rather than nothing because a third form, that is neither matter nor energy exists and preserves the rotational symmetry of  distinct three-dimensional objects, all of which would otherwise decay faster that they could possibly form in a dynamically expanding universe. Dr. Neppe and I call this third form ‘gimmel’. We chose this name for several reasons, including the fact that gimmel is the third letter in the oldest alphabet of the modern world. Gimmel, combined with mass and energy, shapes reality to conform to the distinct logical structure existing in triadic quarks, electrons, protons and neutrons, manifesting as negative entropy (logical patterns and order) in the physical universe. So, in a very real sense, the discovery of gimmel is the final answer to the question of why there is something rather than nothing. The inclusion of gimmel in the equations describing the laws of physics explains why there is something from the very ‘bottom’ of physical reality, at the quantum level to the farthest reaches of the expanding universe.

But GÓ§del’s incompleteness theorem tells us that in any logical system there will always be legitimate questions that cannot be answered within that system. Considering the universe as a logical system, the incompleteness theorem tells me that finite reality, the reality supporting life and individual consciousness, is never complete. That’s why the universe appears to expand to infinity as we improve our technological ability to see farther. These patterns, made stable by the presence of mass-less, energy-less gimmel, resist and overcome the natural tendency of the physical universe to decay back to maximum entropy (total chaos and disorder). So, having answered the question of why there is a physical universe, the next question is what is gimmel?

In our published works, like “Reality Begins with Consciousness” and articles on gimmel and TRUE unit analysis, published in IQ-Nexus, the journal of the World Institute of Scientific Exploration, and other journals, we are careful to distinguish between aspects of TDVP that are supported by experimental data, and/or proved mathematically, and aspects that are hypothetical and speculative. On this blog, however, I am free to give my opinion and say what I think. Therefore, I will go on the record here proposing that gimmel is the finite manifestation of Primary Consciousness, and the reason you and I experience the amazing distinction of self from other. I believe this is the case because gimmel is the conveyer of meaning and purpose, and there is no other candidate that I can imagine to put forth as an explanation for the existence of gimmel. I think gimmel is not only the manifestation of consciousness in physical reality, but actually consciousness itself. If I am correct, then the next question becomes the ultimate enigma: what is the source of gimmel?

I propose that the source of gimmel is Primary Consciousness, within which everything exists in dimensional sub-domains. Just as the first two dimensions of space, conceptualized as lines and planes, exist embedded within the third dimension, measurable as volume, the dimensions of time and finite individualized consciousness are embedded within the transfinite domain of Primary Consciousness. The term ‘transfinite’ is intended here as it was defined by Georg Cantor. The logical patterns of reality are then most appropriately described by the calculus of distinctions, a logical mathematical system I developed from an extended application of George Spencer Brown’s calculus of indications, published in his seminal work “Laws of Form”. The major difference that distinguishes the calculus of distinctions from Brown’s work is the inclusion of consciousness as the agent of organization and order through the drawing of distinctions, and the inclusion of the fourth type of logical statement, beyond Russell and Whitehead’s theory of types, as hyper-dimensional. In simple terms, I am saying that, in addition to true, false and meaningless statements, distinctions beyond the three spatial dimensions, measurable in terms of imaginary and complex numbers, are included in the calculus of dimensional distinctions.

There is no really appropriate word to describe this fourth type of statement. Imaginary suggests that it is not real, but it is, in fact, just as real as the other types. This misnomer in science and mathematics is responsible for much of the confusion and misunderstanding about relativity and quantum physics, and the stagnation of scientific thought in the dead end of materialism. Inclusion of statements of the fourth type in logic and mathematics allows the scientific description of different states of consciousness, including out of body and spiritual experiences.

You and I exist then, as finite distinctions of consciousness occupying finite physical bodies in the physical universe, and simultaneously as participants in the formation and perpetuation of the pattern reflecting the logic of the Primary form of Consciousness, within which everything exists. In this way, reality is participatory, self-referential, beginning-less and endless.

Also, since we are individualized consciousness, as human beings occupying finite physical bodies, we are incomplete; we are works in progress. This is why we are propelled to solve the ultimate enigma, to search for the cause behind the cause. Why? Simply because we exist.

PUTTING CONSCIOUSNESS INTO THE EQUATIONS PART 8

Unifying Quantum Physics and Relativity (PART 8)

The full unification of quantum physics and relativity is brought about in TDVP by applying the tools of CoDD and Dimensional Extrapolation21 to the mathematical expressions of three well-established features of reality, recognized in the current scientific paradigm:
1.    quantization of mass and energy as two forms of the same essential substance of reality;
2.    introduction of time as a fourth dimension; and
3.    the limitation of the velocity of rotational acceleration to light speed, c.
In these processes, the need for a more basic unit of quantization is identified, and when it is defined, the reason there is something rather than nothing becomes clear.
Einstein recognized that mass and energy are interchangeable forms of the physical substance of the universe, and discovered that their mathematical equivalence is expressed by the equation E=mc2.

Applying TDVP

In TDVP, accepting the relativistic relationship of mass and energy at the quantum level, we proceed, based on Planck’s discovery of quanta, to describe quantized mass and energy as the content of quantized dimensional distinctions of extent. This allows us to apply the CoDD to quantum phenomena as quantum distinctions and describe reality at the quantum level as integer multiples of minimal equivalence units. This replaces the assumption of conventional mathematical physics that mass and energy can exist as dimensionless points analogous to mathematical singularities.
The assumption of dimensionless physical objects works for most calculations in practical applications because our units of measurement are so extremely large, compared to the actual size of elementary quanta. Therefore, the quanta appear to be existing as mathematical singularities, i.e. dimensionless points: The electron mass, e.g., is about 1x10-30 kg, with a radius of about 3x10-15 meter. 28; 70 Point masses and point charges, etc., are simply convenient fictions for macro-scale calculations. The calculus of Leibniz and Newton works beautifully for this as a convenient fiction. 10 This is because Newtonian calculus incorporates the fiction mathematically: It assumes that the numerical value of a function describing the volume of a physical feature of reality, like a photon or an electron, can become a specific discrete finite entity. This occurs as the value of a real variable, like the measure of distance or time, approaches zero asymptotically (i.e. infinitely closely). This is a mathematical description of a non-quantized reality. But we exist in a quantized reality, so such a description remains a fiction. 10
Planck discovered that the reality we exist in is actually a quantized reality. This means that there is a “bottom” to physical reality; it is not infinitely divisible, and thus the calculus of Newton and Leibniz does not apply at the quantum level. This might be one reason scientists applying Newtonian calculus to quantum mechanics declare that quantum reality is ‘weird’. The appropriate mathematical description of physical reality at the quantum level is provided by the calculus of distinctions. In CoD, the relationships between the measurable minimum finite distinctions of elementary particles are defined by integral solutions of the appropriate Diophantine equations. The mathematics of quanta is the mathematics of integers because quanta are not subdivided, by definition: They are positive numbers.
In TDVP we find that, for quantized phenomena, existing in a multi-dimensional domain consisting of space and time, embedded in one or more additional dimensional domains, the fiction of dimensionless objects, a convenient mathematical expedient when we did not know that physical phenomena are quantized, is no longer appropriate. We can proceed with a new form of mathematical analysis, the calculus of dimensional distinctions (CoDD) 10, and treat all phenomena as finite, non-zero distinctions. Replacing the dimensionless points of conventional mathematical physics with distinctions of finite unitary volume, we can equate these unitary volumes of the elementary particles of the physical universe with integers. We can then relate the integers of quantum reality to the integers of number theory and explore the deep relationship between mathematics and reality.
In TDVP, we have also developed the procedure of Dimensional Extrapolation using dimensional invariants to move beyond three dimensions of space and one of time. Within the multi-dimensional domains defined in this way, mass and energy are measures of distinctions of content. If there are other dimensions beyond the three of space and one of time that are available to our physical senses, how are they different, and do they contain additional distinctions of content? If so, how is such content different from mass and energy? We know that mass and energy are two forms of the same thing. If there are other forms, what is the basic “stuff” that makes up the universe? Is it necessarily a combination of mass and energy, or is it something else? For the sake of parsimony, let’s begin by assuming that the substance of reality, whatever it is, is multi-dimensional and uniform at the quantum level, and that mass and energy are the most easily measurable forms of it in the 3S-1t domain. This allows us to relate the unitary measure of inertial mass and its energy equivalent to a unitary volume, and provides a multi-dimensional framework to explore the possibility that the “stuff” of reality may exist in more than two forms.

Of spin and symmetry

The smallest distinct objects making up the portion of reality apprehended by the physical senses in 3S-1t, that which we call “physical reality”, are spinning because of asymmetry and the force of the natural universal expansion that occurs as long as there is no external resistance.
If there were no additional dimensions and/or features to restore symmetry, and no limit to the acceleration of rotational velocity, physical particles would contract to nothingness, any finite universe would expand rapidly to maximum entropy as predicted by the second law of thermodynamics for finite systems. But, due to the relativistic limit of light speed on the accelerated rotational velocity of elementary particles in 3S-1t, the quantized content of the most elementary particle must conform to the smallest possible symmetric volume, because contraction to a smaller volume would accelerate the rotational velocity of the localized particle to light speed in 3S-1t, making its mass (inertial resistance) infinite. That minimal volume occupied by the most elementary of particles is the finite quantum distinction replacing the infinitesimal of Newton/Leibniz calculus, and it provides the logical volumetric equivalence unit upon which to base all measurements of the substance of reality.
We can define this minimal volume as the unitary volume of spatial extent, and its content as the unitary quantity of mass and energy. The mass/energy relationship (E=mc2) is linear, since in the 3S-1t context, c2 is a constant, allowing us to define unitary mass and unitary energy as the quantity of each that can occupy the finite rotational unitary volume. This fits nicely with what we know about elementary particles: All elementary particles behave in the same way prior to impacting on a receptor when encountering restricting physical structures like apertures or slits. 78-81

Combining unitary volumes

A particle of unitary mass occupying a unitary volume could be an electron, and a particle of unitary energy occupying a unitary volume before expansion as radiant energy, could be a photon. Einstein explained this equivalence between electrons and photons and Planck’s constant in a paper published in 1905. 82, 83
This brings us to a very interesting problem: What happens when we combine multiples of the unitary volumes of mass/energy to form more complex particles? How do we obtain protons and neutrons to form the stable elemental structures of the physical universe?
When we view the spinning elementary particles of the 3S-1t physical universe from the perspective of a nine-dimensional reality, we can begin to understand how Planck was quite correct when he said “there is no matter as such”. What we call matter, measured as mass, is not really “material” at the quantum level. What is it then that we are measuring when we weigh a physical object? The real measurement of mass is not weight, which varies with relative velocity and location and can be zero without any loss of substance; it is inertia, the resistance to motion. The illusion of solid matter arises from the fact that elementary particles resist accelerating forces due to the fact that they are spinning like tiny gyroscopes, and they resist any force acting to move them out of their planes of rotation. 50 An elementary particle spinning symmetrically in three, six, or nine orthogonal planes of rotation resists lateral movement equally in all directions, and the measurement of that resistance is interpreted as mass. 50
In theory, an asymmetrically spinning dimensional domain, i.e. an object spinning in any number of orthogonal planes other than three, or a multiple of three, should result in the conversion of angular momentum into lateral movement in the direction of least inertial resistance. Some have claimed experimental evidence that an object affected by asymmetrical inertial spinning in two different planes will move laterally because of this transformation of angular momentum into linear motion. We have not substantiated these claims, but in theory, a symmetrical object spinning in four dimensions will move laterally because of the asymmetry of the spinning dimensional domain. 50
Elementary quanta of mass and energy, the two known forms of the substance of the physical universe, embedded in a nine-dimensional domain, form stable structures only under precisely symmetric dimensionometric spin conditions because the angular momenta of elementary quanta spinning asymmetrically are converted into strong divergent linear forces causing the rapid decay of vortical structure and patterns. Without symmetric spinning conditions, no physical universe could exist because of the second law of thermodynamics, which dictates that any finite physical system always decays toward maximum entropy, i.e. total disorder, lacking structure of any kind. 50

If our universe were composed of random debris from an explosion originating from a mathematical singularity, because of the continuous operation of the second law of thermodynamics in an expanding debris field, simple particles accidentally formed by random mass/energy encounter, would decay before a new random encounter could occur and form a more complex combination. The number of random encounters would decrease as the debris field expands because there would be increasingly less debris in any given volume of space. If our physical universe is embedded in the nine-dimensional reality described by TDVP, it should, in theory, escape this fate of dissolution. While it may change and evolve, its form, and even the way it evolves, it will always reflect the intrinsic logical order and patterns of the substrate of reality within which it is embedded, TDVP is based on the hypothesis that logical structure is the natural state of reality, not chaos. This hypothesis is supported by the fact that there is order and logic in the universe in spite of the second law of thermodynamics. If this is correct, we have the answer to the question Leibniz regarded as the first and most important metaphysical question of all: We can explain why there is something instead of nothing.
