DIMENSIONS OF SPACE, TIME, AND CONSCIOUSNESS

DIMENSIONS OF SPACE, TIME, AND CONSCIOUSNESS

In the last post, I promised to answer two questions that are often asked about the Neppe-Close TDVP model of reality:

“What are the three dimension of time and the three dimensions of consciousness?”

Before I attempt to answer these questions, I want to present a little more background, and discuss some key concepts and definitions so that my answers can be understood in the proper context.

Background

In 1985 and 1986, I began the development of a quantum calculus, inspired in part by G. Spencer Brown’s Laws of Form. Applications of the quantum calculus, which I called the calculus of dimensional distinctions, led to a series of discoveries, and eventually to the model of reality that Dr. Vernon Neppe and I call the Triadic Dimensional Vortical Paradigm (TDVP). The early work I did from the 1950s until about 2000, was documented and published in 1977, 1989 and 1997 (See the reference list at the end of this blogpost). Dr. Neppe and I began working together in 2008, and we have published many of our findings in journal papers and the book Reality Begins with Consciousness, first published in 2011, with several editions since.

We discovered that not only are human observations of reality through the five physical senses limited to certain narrow bands of electro-magnetic energy and bio-mechanical vibratory frequencies, but they are also limited to a specific number of dimensions and partial dimensions. The additional frequencies and dimensions are not really hidden, they exist all around us, but our physical senses are just not capable of detecting all of them. Proof of this exists in a number of TDVP explanations of conundrums and paradoxes that exist in the current mainstream paradigm. All of these explanations coincide either exactly, or well within sampling and measurement error, with verified experimental data.

A reaction that occurs fairly often when I mention three dimensions of time is: “You mean Past, present, and future?”  No. Experience shows us that we perceive the same dimensions in the past and future as we do in the present. For conscious individuals, the first dimension of time is experienced as a distinct sequence of experiences creating a series of mental images -models if you will- of events perceived as happening at specific moments along a one-way timeline. Before I explain what the other dimensions of time and the dimensions of consciousness are, I must define exactly what I mean by dimensions and dimensional domains, so that we are on the same page.

What is a dimension?

Most people are familiar with the three dimensions of space: length, width, and height or depth. But many are not so familiar with the way they are defined mathematically. The concept of space is formalized in a mathematically logical manner by defining an axiomatic system of measurements. Several systems have been devised, including polar and spherical coordinate systems, but the most widely used and understood system begins with Cartesian plane coordinates, developed about four hundred years ago by the famous French mathematician Rene Descartes.

Descartes realized that every point along a line could be uniquely located by a single number representing the distance from an arbitrary starting point on the line. Designating that starting point as zero, he constructed a second line extending from the starting point perpendicular to the first line and found that every point in the plane between the two lines could be uniquely located with two positive numbers, called coordinates. This system of coordinates can be extended by constructing a third line from the zero point, extending perpendicular to the first two lines. Then, every point in the space defined by the three lines can be precisely located with three numbers. Those three numbers are the distances on each of the three lines from the zero point to the points where perpendicular lines intersect at the location of the point of interest in three-dimensional space.

This formalization of the three dimensions of space that we perceive through the physical senses can be extended conceptually to more than three dimensions. For each additional dimension, an additional number is needed to precisely locate any point. Traditionally, a geometry with more than three dimensions has been called a “hyperspace”. Application of the calculus of dimensional domains in the TDVP model revealed that additional dimensions really do exist, and that we are emersed in a complex geometry of more than three dimensions, but the dimensions beyond the simplest three are not spatial. Additional dimensions beyond the first three are the measurable extensions in time and consciousness.

When your consciousness is expanded to include more than the planar dimensions described by Descartes, you are not leaving this universe, transported into another dimension, plane, or world, existing somewhere else, you are just becoming aware of additional dimensions that already exist all around you. You just have not been aware of them before. The addition of just one dimension to your domain of awareness, however, transforms the reality you experience in ways that are almost impossible to imagine before you experience them, and nearly as impossible to describe, after you have experienced them. The mind-expanding ways in which your perceptions of reality are transformed become exponentially more complex with each added dimension.

Dimensional Domains

A dimensional domain is defined as a finite portion of extent delineated by a specific number of dimensions. In a quantified, infinitely extending multi-dimensional field, a zero-dimensional domain is a point, i.e., a mathematical singularity; a one-dimensional domain is a line segment; a two-dimensional domain is a specific area of a plane; and a three-dimensional domain is a specific volume of space. The awareness of the domain of three dimensions containing matter, energy, and conscious entities, is only possible with the awareness of a moment of time existing on the fourth dimension, and the integrated experience of consciousness on the fifth dimension. Together, they comprise the experience of being a conscious finite self-aware being. Every conscious being is actually aware of a dimensional domain of three dimensions of space, partial awareness of one dimension of time, and one dimension of consciousness.

When your consciousness is expanded to become aware of more of the dimensions of reality, you find that time and conscious extent have the same basic dimensionometric pattern as space, because they are all reflections of the logical patterns of Primary Consciousness, the substrate of reality. In order to contain objective mass, energy and gimmel, space has to have length, width, and depth. (See references on the discovery of gimmel, the non-physical third form of reality) Time and consciousness also contain images of events comprised of matter, energy, and conscious impact. Thus, they must also have dimensional extents of length, width, and depth.

Space, Time, and Consciousness, Mass, Energy, and Gimmel

Space, the simplest form of structural extent, appears at first glance, to be independent of the consciousness of the observer, but space is actually part of the multi-dimensional space-time-consciousness triadic dimensional domain, reflecting the logical structure of reality. The interdependence of space, time and consciousness becomes more obvious when we investigate the conscious experience of time.

As individual consciousness expands to include the awareness of the additional dimensions, it becomes clear that reality has six measurable primary components. Three of them are measured with variables of extent. They are the dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness. Three are measured with variables of content. They are mass, energy, and gimmel. The variables of extent are dimensions while variables of content measure the impact of the three essential aspects of finite reality. They occupy dimensional domains but are not dimensions themselves. Dimensions simply define the extent of space, time, and consciousness needed to contain the three essential forms of reality. Dimensional domains are occupied by various combinations of the three essential components of finite reality: mass, energy, and gimmel.

The Three Dimensions of Time

Now, let’s return to the discussion of the three dimensions of time: As I said above, the first dimension of time is experienced by a conscious entity as a distinct sequence of events in a series of mental images along a cause-and-effect timeline in individualized consciousness. When the cause-and-effect timeline of a second individual intersects with that timeline, the resulting time structure is analogous to a plane in space, and when the timelines of three or more individuals progressing different directions with regard to the expansion of spiritual awareness interact, that is represented mathematically as existing in three dimensions of time.

The Mathematical Structure of Reality

Application of the quantum calculus of dimensional distinctions to the interactions of the contents of reality (mass, energy, and gimmel) quantified in quantum equivalence units [also called triadic rotational units of equivalence (TRUE)], in the dimensional domain of the six dimensions of spacetime, reveals the basic mathematical structure of reality: As the domain of awareness expands from three dimensions of space to include a dimension of time, the appropriate units of measurement change from integers to imaginary numbers. After three dimensions of time, in order to expand into dimensions of consciousness, the units change from imaginary numbers to complex numbers. [For readers with formal training in advanced number theory: The unitary projection from a 3n-dimensional domain to a 3n+1 dimensional domain, (n=1,2, 3…) is the principal primitive (3n+1)th root of unity.]

The quantum calculus of dimensional distinctions mentioned above is applicable to the multi-dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness and their contents because those contents, while not measurable in variables of extent, are composed of multiples of distinctions (TRUE) creating the various dimensional domains.

This analysis leads to the conclusion that the quantized dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness include three finite dimensions of time and space plus three finite dimensions of consciousness, totaling nine finite dimensions, and the quantized aspects of the essence of reality have three primary forms each, totaling nine finite quantities. The three, six, and nine finite dimensions and the three, six, and nine finite forms defining the logical structure of quantized reality are reflected in the geometrical and numerical structure of pure mathematical logic in several ways in addition to the three main types of numbers: the natural, imaginary, and complex.

The nature of dimensions of expanded consciousness existing beyond the finite quantized nine-dimensional domain, and how they relate to the infinitely continuous field of the substrate of reality that I have called Primary Consciousness, are beyond the scope of this post. But the elegance of the three- six- and nine-mathematical logic running through the stable structures of the physical, mental, and spiritual realities that we experience is so striking that it warrants a much more detailed presentation than I have provided here; but that discussion is also beyond the scope of this post.

My intention in this post is just to provide the basic context within which the space-time-conscious dimensionality and mass-energy-gimmel content of reality, as modeled by the Close-Neppe Paradigm, can be understood. The last, and most challenging step for me is to describe what I mean by the three finite dimensions of consciousness. To do this, I must try to describe what reality must look from the vantage point of Cosmic Consciousness. I must do this based on a few brief glimpses of my own and the words of a few exceptional souls who have attained the ultimate goal of existence.

Education and the Expansion of Consciousness

To explain what I mean by dimensions of consciousness, it is necessary to clear up some common misconceptions. The reality we experience is quantized by the conscious drawing of finite distinctions of mass, energy, and gimmel in the quantized dimensional domains of space, time, and consciousness. Because of this quantization and the conservation of mass and energy, dimensionless points (mathematical singularities), and the first two dimensional domains defined above: one-dimension lines, and two-dimensional spaces, do not exist in our physical universe, because they cannot contain even one quantum of the essential forms of reality, consisting of quantized mass, energy, and gimmel. All three forms are volumetric, and thus, no dimensional domain with less than three dimensions can contain combinations of the essential forms of physical reality.

What does this have to do with understanding and the three dimensions of consciousness? It is important to recognize that the physical universe is not infinitely continuous, but consciousness is, and that our physical senses detect energies that are discretely quantized in order to allow us to experience finite structures as distinctions within the infinitely continuous substrate of consciousness.

The non-existence of zero-dimensional points, one-dimensional lines, and two-dimensional planes in quantized reality, makes the infinitesimal calculus of Newton inappropriate for application at the quantum scale of existence, but mainstream science has failed to recognize this for more than one hundred years since Max Planck discovered that reality is quantized, and Albert Einstein demonstrated that measurements of space and time are dependent upon the quantization of relative motion within the maximum limit of light speed. The inappropriate application of infinitesimal calculus to quantum calculations has led to the so-called “quantum weirdness” so often highlighted by mainstream physicists, but now, application of the quantum calculus of dimensional distinctions and the discovery of gimmel removes quantum weirdness from science.

Mainstream science has been stagnated in the false belief system of dialectical materialism for nearly one hundred years, causing modern science to devolve into scientism, a well-organized atheistic religion, relegating consciousness and spiritual evolution to the realm of mythology and fantasy. Scientism embraces the unprovable negative assumptions of atheism and the worship of artificial intelligence (AI) as the savior and God of the future. AI materialism is the current reincarnation of the idolatry that the Spiritual Masters have always warned against.

Over the past sixty years since I first started teaching mathematics, I have watched education in this country slowly disintegrate and devolve into a series of social experiments driven by dialectic materialism. Under the authoritarian rule of scientific materialism, public education has become little more than governmental indoctrination and social engineering. The memorization and regurgitation of establishment-approved data and beliefs is falsely equated with learning. Enrollment in courses that improve logical thinking and critical reasoning is no longer encouraged because of the potential of producing students who might challenge the authority of government indoctrination.

The real process of education was intended to expand individual consciousness into a greater awareness of physical, mental, and spiritual reality. Rather than being forced to accept someone else’s beliefs, and being told what to think, students should be taught to think clearly and logically for themselves. They should be given greater access to the works of the great thinkers of the world, and they should be encouraged to expand their awareness and knowledge of the dimensions and content of reality. The social and political indoctrination that we are seeing in our public and private schools today, rarely lead to any real learning and understanding, and almost never to spiritual growth or wisdom. Our current educational institutions are pushing ideas and beliefs that contract awareness rather than expand it, as education should.

The Three Dimensions of Consciousness

The dimensions of consciousness are meta-dimensions. By that, I mean that they contain within them all of the finite dimensions of physical reality. They are not empty points, lines, and planes. The first dimension of consciousness is defined by the trace of the individual awareness of being, the distinction of self from other. The evolution of this awareness can be positive, negative, or stationary with regard to the goals of conscious spiritual evolution. Therefore, this trace can be represented as a line of events, or a lifetrace in the field of consciousness, but this line is not one-dimensional. Each point on the line is volumetric, i.e., at least three-dimensional, with content and extent that have meaningful impact on the consciousness of the individual.

The second dimension of consciousness is created by the awareness of two intersecting individual lifetraces. Their intersection implies the existence of a quantum plane of consciousness, whether the individuals are aware of any more than the quantum of intersection or not. When additional traces, trending in different directions than the first two, with regard to the overall spiritual growth of consciousness expansion, are perceived, three dimensions of consciousness are revealed.

Implications of the nine-dimensional model.

The mathematical inclusion of consciousness in the TDVP model of reality expands the scope of scientific analysis in ways that will probably take years to explore and require volumes of documentation. But this discussion of the implications of the TDVP model will be brief, meant only to indicate some of the potential phenomena we can investigate, and some of the directions that the research may go.

At this point in the planetary time cycle, due to the current low level of the average physical and mental ability and spiritual virtue compared to the real human potential, the progress in consciousness expansion for the majority of the Earth’s human population is hardly noticeable during one lifetime. But, since the progress can be accelerated by focus and consistent application of effective consciousness expansion techniques, it is of interest to have some knowledge of what experiences of some of the various states of expanded consciousness are like.

Once again, I find that I need to define some of the concepts relevant to consciousness expansion in a little more detail. The extent of awareness along each dimension of the domain available to an individual sentient being is limited by the focus and range of operation of the physical, mental, and spiritual senses of the individual. For example, due to being able to perceive, travel, and remember, an individual may have a considerable spatial awareness of the physical world, with a limited awareness of one dimension of time and one dimension of consciousness.

A large number of states of partial and/or total awareness of the nine finite dimensions of reality are possible relative to the current state of awareness of the average individual. For example, if an average person alive now, with the normal awareness of a domain of three dimensions of space, and partial awareness of one dimension of time, and partial awareness of one dimension of consciousness, were to expand his or her consciousness to include significant extended awareness of time and consciousness dimensions in his or her cognitive domain, then that person would be considered to be very psychic by people limited to the general level of consciousness in today’s world. That person would “see” past and future events of his/her experience, as well as those in the consciousness of others. A person with extended awareness of any dimension of time or space would be considered “gifted” by the standards of today’s society.

NOTES UPON AWAKENING

ABOUT TIME

Let’s start with Einstein’s last, and perhaps most important enlightenment about the two simplest variables of extent: space and time. From the perspective of relativistic quantum field theory, he realized that space and time, or Minkowski space-time in the geometry of the four dimensional physical domain, can “claim”, as he put it: “no existence of their own. They are simply structural features of the field.” What exactly does this mean? To understand this fully requires the application of relativistic quantum field calculus. I developed the Calculus of Dimensional Distinctions (CoDD) for this purpose in 1989. But I don’t expect everyone who reads this to be familiar with my esoteric system of mathematical logic, so let me try to explain this, as best as I can, in plain English.

Every conscious being has a mental conception of space and time. One could not survive long in this world without some awareness of space and time. One would probably get run over crossing the street, or fall into a deep hole in the ground! Space is measured in inches, feet, miles, centimeters, meters, kilometers, etc., and is 3-dimensional, where the dimensions are called length, width, and depth. Time is measured in seconds, hours, days, and years, and is thought of as a one-way dimension. These measurements are called variables of extent because they can be plotted along straight lines extending across a page. Put together as a logical mathematical structure, length, width, depth, and time (x,y,z,&t) are variables of extent in the 4-dimensional domain of space-time. Physical reality also has content, measured in quantal units of  mass and energy, in ounces, pounds, and tons, or micrograms, grams, kilograms, etc., called variables of content. Together, these variables of extent and content, in various combinations, are the variables in the equations describing the laws of physics in the Calculus of Dimensional Distinctions. But I mention this conceptualization just to put what I have to say about time in the  proper logical context. I am going to keep this post simple, and just focus on time, the one variable of our nine-dimensional reality that has the greatest impact on our experience of consciousness, which is the essence of our being.

We are very much aware of time. Time is a major factor in our lives. We eat, sleep, work, and live, by the clock. But do we really know what time is? The answer is: No, we don’t. Time is a familiar unknown. But Albert Einstein has given us a clue: It has no existence of its own. This is fairly easy to understand without any complicated math or abstract reasoning, as follows: If there is nothing happening, there is no time. A static universe would be timeless. Without the energetic whirling dance of bits of mass through space, there would be no such thing as time! In terms of geometry, time is simply the distance between events. Without events, there is no such thing as time. Space, when analyzed, suffers a similar fate. If there were no objects, there would be no space. But that’s for another discussion. We’re just talking about time right now.

You have most likely heard the saying: “Time waits for no one.”  and it seems to be true. But that’s only because most of us don’t know what time really is; or, perhaps more appropriately, what time isn’t. I began to figure this out about 60 years ago, several years before I read Einstein’s words quoted above. I hadn’t worked out the math yet, but I knew how to make time wait for me! When I began the practice of Kriya Yoga in 1960, I began to learn how to slow time down, and eventually how to stop it all together! This gave me some insights into how things work, and eventually into life, consciousness, and time itself, including things like time travel and reincarnation, Do I have any real evidence of this seemingly miraculous claim? I believe I do, but you can decide for yourself. I will be 84 in less than 30 days, but I’ve been told by a number of people, some of whom I believe, that I look and act like someone at much younger.

Let me explain how this works. Time has no existence of its own apart from the other variables that make up physical reality, - particularly the variables of mass and energy. That means that for you, the passage of time is relative to physical events occurring within your body, the contents of which are mass and energy. One of the beneficial effects of the deep meditative state of Kriya Yoga, is the experiencing of conscious exit from your physical body. When I am absent from my physical body, it is in stasis, and if this stasis is complete, there is no movement in my physical body, and with no mass energy events, there is no time; thus  my body does not age.

This may be what the Apostle Paul was talking about when he said: “In Christ I die daily” and “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”!

There are three states of conscious that I have experienced during my lifetime, during which the body is in either partial or complete stasis: the Near-Death Experience (NDE), the Out-of-Body Experience (OBE), and deep meditation experiences, known by various names like Samadhi. Satori, Tao, Mystical Union, etc. So the effects of slowing or stopping the apparent march of time on my body may have not been solely from the practice of Kriya Yoga, because I experienced two NDEs and several OBEs before I began to practice Kriya Yoga in 1960.

What about time travel? Actually, we do that all the time. Just as we move from point to point in space in the physical world, we move from point to point to point in time. But in the physical world, the motion is confined to a one-directional timeline. To travel back on the timeline of our experience, or forward in an accelerated way is not possible without involving other dimensions of space, time, and consciousness, not to mention the dynamics of mass and energy. What science fiction writers and others are talking about is not travel just in time, but in space, time, and consciousness, because time has no existence of its own.

Can I travel back to a day in my youth and correct something that I wish now I hadn’t done? Probably not; at least not in the way science fiction writers think of it. Why? Because time has no existence of its own. On a particular day, at a specific moment in the past, what made up reality at that point in time, was a specific configuration of all of the mass, energy, and consciousness interacting at that moment in space-time. If I truly visit that moment, I will be the same part of the reality of that time that I was then, and I will experience everything exactly as I did before. Thus I wouldn’t even know that I had traveled back in time. I probably wouldn’t be able to change anything, and if I did change things by making a different choice, or by accidentally doing something different than I did the first time, it might have all kinds of unexpected effects on the future from which I came. This is just one reason that Jacqui asked me not to build a time machine when, after my experience in the Great Pyramid, l told her I thought I could. (I wrote about this in Secrets of the Sacred Cube and my upcoming book Survival.)

Can I travel back in time to a time before I was born? Maybe, e.g., to the year 1875 and meet Mark Twain when he was writing Tom Sawyer? Probably not; at least not in the way you might think of it. Why? Because all the other aspects of reality would have to be involved, including consciousness. Then one has to ask, where was my consciousness at that time?  What if I was actually Mark Twain? In fact, Mark Twain believed in reincarnation. He said “I have been reincarnated more often than anyone, except maybe Krishna!” (See Secrets of the Sacred Cube for the quote and reference.)

So, is time travel possible? Yes, within certain parameters. What is time? Nothing at all without mass, energy, space, and consciousness.

SPACE, TIME AND CONSCIOUSNESS (a summary)

A FEW WORDS ABOUT SPACE, TIME AND CONSCIOUSNESS

Space and time, dimensions that are measurable in variables of extent, have no existence of their own. As Albert Einstein said, ”Space-time does not claim existence on its own, but only as a structural quality of the field.”  (see link: http://www.erclosetphysics.com/2016/)

But what does this mean? Is there a practical application, or is it meaningful only in the context of theoretical physics? I believe it has practical applications, even if we don’t yet know what all of them may be, because this statement is no longer just a theoretical concept. The hypothesis is subject to falsification, making it a valid scientific hypothesis, (see the work of Karl Popper) and with the discovery of gimmel, and the explanation of empirical observations that are inexplicable by mainstream physicalism, it is now demonstrable fact, not just theory.

Consciousness shares the feature of dimensionality and is partially measurable in variables of extent, much like space and time. Does that mean that consciousness also has no existence of it’s own, as physicalists claim? No. The answer is demonstrably NO, because consciousness is also measurable in variables of content, like mass/energy and gimmel. This is demonstrated mathematically and physically in Transcendental Physics, Reality Begins with Consciousness and TDVP.

Please click on the link given in two paragraphs above and read the six short posts that appear for more detail, and then click on  “WHAT IS LOVE?” at the bottom, to grasp my understanding that LOVE is the connection between Primary Consciousness, the substrate of reality and the physical universe. In these seven relatively short posts, you will find an explanation of what I believe to be true, what I have learned in my almost 84 years of this life. I think it is in a form here that anyone can understand. I just read through it, and it took a little more than 15 minutes. It may take you a little longer. If you find it worthwhile, please share with your friends. If you find it not your cup of tea, that’s OK too.

When I say some mainstream ideas are science fiction, by ‘science fiction’ I don’t mean a futuristic story created for entertainment, I mean something that is fictitious, i.e., actually false. A lot of things accepted and reported as science today are not real, and some things routinely rejected by mainstream science actually are true. If you don’t believe this could be the case, just look at the history of science. It is not uncommon for a hypothesis once accepted as fact because it was consistent with the mainstream view, to turn out to be untrue; and it is not uncommon for some things rejected because they were not consistent with the mainstream view, to be proved to be true. There are ample instances of both of both types of turnarounds, but I’ll mention only a couple of each that are of major significance.

For many years, most people, including some early scientists, believed the earth was flat. The idea that the earth could be something like a ball spinning in empty space was, to them, obvious nonsense. Then, when the earth was considered to be the center of the universe, the astronomer Claudius Ptolemy worked out a system of cycles and epicycles that appeared to adequately explain the erratic behavior of the known planets. Both of these scientific ideas proved to be false, because they were based on false assumptions.

The text from a physical geology course I took in the early 1960s identified the continental drift theory proposed by a meteorologist named Alfred Wegener in 1915, as pseudoscience, i.e., an idea that had been thoroughly discredited by geologists. But just a few years later, the same idea that mainstream geologists had called a ‘crack-pot’ theory, proved to be true, and was renamed plate tectonics. Even Einstein’s 1905 idea that the measurement of space and time in one inertial reference frame from another moving reference frame varies according to relative velocity was considered by most mainstream physicists to be “utter nonsense” until it was proved to be true by empirical data.

What’s the point? The point is that science is never complete. It moves forward on theories and testable hypotheses. and thus is never completely correct nor completely wrong. Science is always a work in progress. The problem is that when a mainstream scientist says something, the media presents it as if it is prima facie truth, even though it may be based on unproven concepts, and the public gets the impression that everything about science as we know it is solid fact. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many things believed by mainstream scientists right now will prove to be incorrect.

I will list just a few scientific theories in vogue today that are false. They are literally science fictions.

The Big-Bang Theory
The 13.8 billion-year finite age of the universe
The 4.5 billion-year age of the Earth
The current civilization is the most advanced ever to exist on this planet.

My reasons for declaring that these theories are in fact false, stem from the discovery that current conventional beliefs about the nature of matter, energy, space, and time are flawed. This is revealed by the application of the primary calculus, the Calculus of Distinctions, to mass, energy and spacetime at the quantum scale, and by empirical evidence from quantum mechanics. Dr. Vernon Neppe and I have written about this in detail in a number of publications, and I have posted a number of essays about it in this blog site, so I will only summarize some of the reasons here, and note that they are in agreement with the historical resolution of the EPR paradox by Bell’s inequality and meticulous experimental data that show that matter, energy, space, and time are not what we think they are.

All four of the mainstream ideas listed above are fatally flawed because they are based on the erroneous idea that space and time form a uniform, passive background within which everything happens. Once you realize, as Albert Einstein did, that space and time have no existence of their own, and that observation and measurement of space-time dimensions are not uniform throughout the universe, but vary depending on relative mass and motion, the four ideas above fall like a house of cards.

There is ample evidence that 1) the big bang never happened; 2) the universe has always existed and will always exist in some form; 3) the Earth is much older than 4.5 billion years; and 4) civilization as an expression of the mental virtue of consciousness, has far exceeded its current level many times in the past. This evidence is all around us in many forms, and has been presented in a number of publications by Neppe and Close. I will summarize some of the evidence in my next post.

THE GRAND ILLUSION

THE NATURE OF REALITY © Edward R. Close, 2016

First I’ll tell you what I know, and then I’ll tell you how I know it.

Reality, as we experience it, is an illusion. The separation of Reality into the apparent interplay of space-time-matter-energy as the physical universe is an illusion. This illusion is comprised of five (5) inter-related illusions:

1.    The illusion of matter
2.    The illusion of energy
3.     The illusion of space
4.    The illusion of time
5.    The illusion of separation

The scientific fact that these five illusory perceptions, which are based on the combination of hypnotic images created in the physical brain from the limited perceptions of the five physical senses are not real, means that the ‘big-bang’ expanding physical universe, in all its glory, is an illusion.

It makes no difference whether you believe this or not, it is true, and the truth will eventually become self-evident. Belief based on faith is unnecessary in the face of knowledge.

The illusion of matter was exposed by Max Planck as a result of his discovery of the quantized nature of physical reality, He said: “There is no matter as such.”

The illusion of energy (force) was exposed by Sir Isaac Newton when he stated the universal physical truth: “For every force there is an equal and opposite force.”

The illusions of space and time were exposed by Albert Einstein when he demonstrated that simultaneity and dimension are relative to the dynamic state of the observer.

The illusion of separation was exposed by Erwin SchrÓ§dinger when he stated that “There is no evidence that consciousness is plural.”

The news is that we now have mathematical proof, based on empirical evidence of the truth of this. Most of these proofs have been peer reviewed and published under the authorship of Close and Neppe, or Neppe and Close.

It is no accident that I am posting this on Independence Day. There is no doubt that clear knowledge of the truth shall set you free.

WHAT IS REALITY? EXISTENCE AND THE PROBLEM OF TIME

WHAT IS REALITY? EXISTENCE AND THE PROBLEM OF TIME
We saw in earlier posts how the existence of the third form of the substance of reality, which we’ve called ‘gimmel’, explains why there is something instead of nothing. It even explains why there are conscious organic life forms. But it doesn’t explain exactly how they came into being, or where they came from. But particle physicists, by conceptually rolling back the clock from here and now, in accordance with the known laws of physics, have come up with a theory, called the Big Bang Theory, as an explanation of the origin of the universe. But the BB theory doesn’t explain the existence of conscious beings, or even how stable atoms are formed. It’s pretty questionable on many levels, as we will see.

To analyze this in a comprehensive manner, the Triadic Dimensional Vortical Paradigm (TDVP) developed by Edward R. Close (me), a mathematician and physicist, and Vernon M. Neppe, a neuroscientist and physician, recognizes the existence of consciousness as a basic component of reality. An important task of TDVP, is to bring physics and neuroscience together. I will approach this task here by starting with the question: What is a particle physicist? Is a particle physicist a physicist made of particles, or a physicist who studies particles?

This sounds facetious, but a particle physicist would probably say that he/she is both. A particle physicist believes that everything is made up of particles, and reality can best be understood by takings apart and studying the pieces. But we argue that is incorrect. The whole is always greater than the sum of the parts, and a particle physicist is a conscious human being, and as such, is much more than a conglomeration of physical parts, and an atom is much more than electrons, protons and neutrons stuck together in various physical configurations. Physical reality, until now erroneously thought of by mainstream scientists as being capable of stable existence independent of consciousness, contains not only mass and energy, but also consciousness.

Particle physicists have a very basic problem they don’t seem to recognize, or know how to deal with … or even want to know how to deal with. It’s the question of beginning: what, when and where was the beginning? What was the first particle, when and where did it exist, and where did it come from??? I’m going to deal with the question of beginning here. Actually, I have no choice, I have to, because the calculus of distinctions, a major tool of TDVP, applied to the interaction of mind and matter as finite distinctions implies there are no beginnings or endings, only change. Given that I exist, I am here, and it is now.  Given that the universe also exists here and now, how did this happen?

The particle physics answer is the big bang theory: There was a big explosion about 13.7 billion years ago, and the first particles came from that. Really? You mean to tell me that there was nothing, and suddenly there was an explosion from a mathematical singularity (a dimensionless point) and, instead of flying apart forever, the pieces got together and eventually formed everything we see now? How did this happen? Explosions, as we know them, don’t create things, just the opposite, they destroy things. There’s obviously something major missing from this picture. Not only that, the logic of the standard model of particle physics leads to the necessity of there being ‘particles’ with no mass and/or no energy. What? Wait a minute, what is the definition of a particle?

If reality is not adequately described by the current materialistic paradigm, and the universe didn’t originate in a physical big bang explosion from nothing, the most important question is: How did the universe as we know it arrive at the negative entropy level of organization we experience in the here and now?

OK, here’s the problem: The current scientific paradigm assumes that the observer, the human component, has no direct connection with physical reality. In the prevailing paradigm, consciousness has only an indirect relationship to physical reality through the physical senses, and is represented in the mathematical description by a point in the four-dimensional space-time domain of the physical universe. In TDVP, this is recognized as a false assumption. TDVP builds upon the indications from relativity and quantum mechanics that consciousness is an integral part of reality, and includes the action of consciousness in the equations. It does this by replacing the binary logic of mass and energy in a four-dimensional domain with the triadic logic of mass, energy and consciousness in a nine-dimensional domain, embedded in infinity. It recognizes the fact that only a small portion of reality is directly available to the physical senses, but that the rest of reality contributes meaning and purpose to conscious experience. So, how does this provide us with a better understanding of reality? Let me answer this in the first person:

Given that I exist, I am here, and it is now, and the conditions in this here and now define the reality I experience. Given that the universe also exists here and now, I apparently arrived at this mass/energy/space/time state defined by my present state of consciousness, by one specific route; but I have a finite range of several different choices available to me by which I may create my future. This state of affairs describes my conscious experience of the present and the so-called arrow of time that differentiates the time dimension from the space dimensions in both quantitative and qualitative ways. dimensionometrically, it seems that I have only seven degrees of freedom: two in each of the three dimensions of space, giving me the freedom to move to any unoccupied location in 3D space, but only one degree of freedom in the time dimension. But quantum physics and the calculus of dimensional distinctions tell me that time, like space, is actually three-dimensional, and while, just like in space, I can only experience one timeline through 3D time, defined by the series of choices I make, under certain circumstances, choices made in the present can change the route by which I arrived in the here and now. The implications of this are immense.

One interesting implication is that it is possible that I can deliberately change my present state of conscious experience by making choices in the present that will change the path by which I arrive at this state. To be continued.

SPACE-TIME AND THE BIG-BANG PARADOX

MORE ABOUT SPACE-TIME
In a previous post I pointed out that the new paradigm, TDVP, the paradigm that includes consciousness as an integral part of reality, agrees with Einstein’s view that space-time is not something that has an existence of its own. This is a radically different understanding of space and time, very different from the concepts we operate under in our daily lives: Largely because of the limitations of our physical senses, we are under the illusion that space-time exists like an empty field through which things move. With the inclusion of consciousness as a participating part of reality, of importance at least equal to mass and energy, like Einstein, we see that space and time are extensions of the substance of reality, and while reality is dynamic, the substance of reality is neither created nor destroyed. Thus the universal law of conservation of mass and energy is incorporated into a broader law of conservation of the substance of Reality, and there is no beginning or end, only change. This requires a new look at concepts like entropy and complexity, as they have been defined by physicists.

ENTROPY
Entropy is defined as the inverse of organization and structure. The highly structured and mathematically ordered universe we see now, is a state of low entropy. But, according to the latest information from the Hubble telescope, the universe is expanding at an ever-increasing rate toward maximum entropy, where maximum entropy is defined as the complete lack of structure. As the substance of the universe dissipates as the universe expands, entropy increases. This is consistent with the second law of thermodynamics which says that physical systems always tend to disintegrate, or ‘run down’, over time, explosion or no explosion.

COMPLEXITY
To measure the complexity of the universe, physicists and cosmologists use Kolmogorov complexity. This measure of complexity is defined as low when the universe can be described simply, and greater when it requires more detail to describe the universe. For example, a universe consisting of nothing but expanding plasma, or nothing but a quark soup, would be one of low complexity, while a universe consisting of many elements, compounds and organisms would be one of a much higher complexity.

ENTROPY vs COMPLEXITY
So entropy is the inverse of complexity: high entropy means low complexity, and low entropy means high complexity. This works looking into the future of the expanding universe: From this point of low entropy and high complexity on, entropy will increase and complexity will decrease as the universe expands and complex structures break down. But looking back toward the big bang, we have a problem.

THE BIG-BANG EXPANDING UNIVERSE PARADOX
In the standard model, running the clock backwards conceptually, cosmologists conclude that the universe began with the explosion of an extremely hot, dense mass about13.7 billion years ago. An explosion with its subsequent expanding debris field never creates order and complexity in opposition to the second law of thermodynamics; to the contrary, an explosion always creates disorder and chaos. So the complexity of the universe should have been maximum just after the big bang, decreasing ever since. The problem is that the standard model has no explanation for the low entropy and high level of complexity we find in the current universe. In fact, the standard model cannot explain why there is even one stable atom, or for that matter, why there is a universe at all.

THE ANSWER
With the discovery of gimmel and the development of TRUE unit analysis, we have, for the first time in the history of modern science, the explanation. In the standard model, consciousness is considered to be an accidental consequence emerging from the random occurrence of self-organizing structures. But there is no explanation of how the second law of thermodynamics was overcome, or what the mechanism of self-organization might be. We have shown that gimmel, the third form of the substance of reality, has to be a part of atomic structure, from quarks to the simplest triadic combination, the hydrogen atom, to provide the stability necessary to sustain the physical universe. But gimmel is not an emergent feature, it had to be there before the first stable particle could form.

SPACE-TIME

So space-time has no existence apart from mass, energy and gimmel, which, in accordance with the conservation of the substance of reality, the mathematical geometrical logic of the calculus of distinctions, and the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics have no meaningful existence until irreversibly registered in the consciousness of an observer. As Einstein said: “Reality (as we know it) is an illusion”. The question now becomes: to what extent are we free to consciously shape the nature of reality, present, past and future, within the logic of the conscious primary substrate?

ILLUSIONS

SPACE AND TIME IN THE NEW PARADIGM
As human beings, we tend to think that space and time are objective things that exist with or without content, like a backdrop for things and events, whether we are aware of them or not. The discovery of gimmel, the third form of the substance of reality, reveals that this is not true. The idea that space and time exist as objective realities is a deep-seated illusion.
SPACE
Einstein said, in what I believe may have been one of his last published written comments, in a “NOTE TO THE FIFTEENTH EDITION” of “Relativity, The Special and General Theory, a Clear Explanation that anyone can Understand” Fifth Edition, the following:
“In this edition I have added a fifth appendix, a presentation of my views on the problem of space in general and on the gradual modifications of our ideas on space resulting from the influence of the relativistic view-point. I wished to show that space-time is not necessarily something to which one can ascribe a separate existence, independently of the actual objects of physical reality. Physical objects are not in space, but these objects are spatially extended. In this way, ‘empty space’ loses its meaning.” A. EINSTEIN, June 9th, 1952
Space is measured in variables of extent, like feet and inches, or meters and centimeters, but has no meaning or existence without the existence of objects possessing content, and/or without the conscious drawing of distinctions.
Space has no existence of its own. It only exists by virtue of objective distinctions drawn in the fabric of reality by conscious entities.
In my application of the calculus of distinctions to the description of reality (see “Transcendental Physics” Chapter 7 and Appendix D), space is one of three types of finite distinctions drawn by conscious entities. There are distinctions of extent, distinctions of content, and distinctions of meaning in consciousness.
TIME
Notice that in the note quoted above, Einstein starts out talking about space, but ends up including time, by saying that ‘space-time’ is “not necessarily something to which one can ascribe a separate existence…” This is consistent with the recognition that time is properly included in the description of reality as a fourth dimension, measurable in variables of extent. The discovery and quantification of gimmel as an agent of consciousness, completes the picture of Triadic Reality with the recognition of the distinctions of space, time and consciousness as the three types of extent; of the distinctions of mass, energy and consciousness as the three forms of content; and the distinctions of Primary, individual-self, and other, as the three forms of consciousness.  This is the triple triad of TDVP, the new paradigm.

Einstein also said: "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one!"

Time, an important part of that illusion, is measured in variables of duration, a form of extent that implies the existence of past, present and future. These three aspects of time in the physical universe depend upon the drawing of distinctions, and are thus meaningless without consciousness and the distinctions of mass (the illusion of matter) and distinctions of energy (the illusion of relative motion) and the distinction of self (the illusion of separateness). This is the meaning of the title of the book “Reality Begins with Consciousness (RBC) by Neppe and Close.

See www.BrainVoyage.com for e-book copies of RBC.

TIME IN THE TRIADIC CONTINUUM OF REALITY
If you closely inspect your experience of time, you will find that it is dependent upon your identification with the physical body and its tendency toward entropic dissolution. As pointed out in a previous post, just as matter and energy obey the universal law of the conservation of mass and energy, consciousness obeys the same law. Gimmel, the consciousness within every atom of physical reality can be neither created nor destroyed.
Physicists are perplexed by the fact that nowhere in the current equations of science is there evidence of any ‘arrow of time’.  The laws of physics work just as well backward as they do forward. This is because the arrow of time is a product of the attachment of individualized consciousness to a physical body. The arrow of time does not appear until consciousness is included in the equations as it does in the TDVP application of the calculus of distinctions to the triple triad of reality: 3-D space, 3-D time, mass, energy, and gimmel, embedded in the conscious trans-finite substrate of Reality.

Stay tuned for practical applications of the discovery of gimmel in the framework of the new paradigm.
